I like the Canadian citizenship part, lolHere ya go
NICEST Car Horn Ever- DIY
This horn is SO courteous my car was granted Canadian citizenship yesterday. Check out Bob's video: https://youtu.be/smhMLsP5fsMMy buddy Howard does this fo...www.youtube.com
And back when the horn system was analog you could briefly “chirp” the horn to let the guy ahead of you know that it’s time to get his head out of his…phone, since the light went green 15 seconds ago. Now, the digitally controlled horn is either full on or full off, so instead of a gentle chirp reminder the guy gets a full but brief blast from the horn.
I guess that’s progress…
best,

Thank you Sir. I appreciate it. So there isn't any old school way of bypassing it then? Not really unless you want to do major surgery on the wiring. In the olden days the horn button would activate a relay which in turn sent power to the horn. Nowadays there is a electronic module monitoring all the buttons on the steering wheel which sends a message via the CAN bus to another module which then turns on the relay.
Couldn't agree with you more regarding the safety issue and the delay. Will your remedy still work by using the horn pad or will this be an auxiliary button you have to install?I'm right with you there on the horn honking issue.
You hit the horn button and the signal now goes through the BCM module and this BCM module has to be positively sure the horns are actually physically connected to the wires before the BCM will allow the horns to honk. Its irritating that when you urgently need to sound your horn to avoid someone not paying attention it takes a f******* eternity for the horns to honk = unsafe.
I will also be adding another horn that will be on its own circuit
