Had a 2020 Laramie 1500 Crew cab, bought new, and purchased an 8/100,000 Mopar vehicle protection from Ziegler Autogroup, used the Plainwell, MI dealership, for $1675.00. The 2020 was totaled on Dec 7, 2022. I then purchased a 2022 Limited 1500 Crew cab at the end of Dec, and am thinking of adding the Mopar vehicle protection again.
Just received a quick quote from Ziegler and they now want $2400.00 for the same plan as before. Think the increase in price, almost half again as much from two years ago is a "little" extreme. Does anyone else have or know of another source for the same plan at a more reasonable /affordable price?
I did receive a partial refund from the warranty.

Why not just run with the factory warranty for the duration, then look for a 3rd party one at the end. Just for reference you could price out a 3rd party policy for your wrecked 2020 to see what the cost would be if you had gone that route, and it gives you some comparison data. With a 3rd party, you can choose your repair center and possibly get better coverage cheaper.

That's pretty much how much many things have gone up in price, unfortunately.
Just look at eggs!

Did you ask for a prorated refund on the 2020 plan? Pretty sure you get one but you have to ask for it from the plan administrator.

It could be that since the replacement cost of a truck has gone up along with the cost and supply chain issues of the replacement parts, they may have increased the cost of the warranty to compensate. Dunno, but sounds logical.

Plus, a Limited should cost more than a Laramie, so I would think that the warranty may be slightly more expensive as well.

if you wait until your basic warranty expires then you will pay more for less with a Mopar ESP. An 8 year new vehicle ESP (3 years basic + 5 years extended) is cheaper than a 5 year used vehicle ESP the day after your basic warranty expires. Again, that's for the Mopar ESP.

You can go to any shop to get your work done with the Mopar ESP. You just have to call and get approval for the repair before the shop starts work. Pretty much what the 3rd party ESPs require (except they require approval before any repair at any shop, including the dealership).

With the Mopar ESP, coverage at the dealership is automatic which is why most of us just take the truck there. No call, no claim, no problem. The dealership tells you its covered and you get the truck back when the work is done (minus your deductible). The dealership can duke it out with corporate for reimbursement while my truck sits in my driveway.

Yes, you get one. You have to contact the dealer that sold you the policy to cancel and get a pro-rated refund. There's a corporate number to call if you can't contact the dealer but I'm sure that process is a lot slower than just calling the selling dealer.

I just sold my truck and called Zeigler to cancel (who I bought my ESP from). Talked to them on the phone ,submitted the form, and got confirmation of refund the same business day.

A comparable 2023 truck MSRP is almost 19% more than what my 2019 MSRP was.

Mopar ESP pricing goes in waves. Prices surge up for a few months then ebb for a couple, then the process repeats.

Do you have your old contract. See if you are do a refund. I've heard some do give partial refund for unused time left on contract.

I think it is arguable that many people who buy an extended warranty at purchase wrap that into financing, so the actual cost could be higher. And a quote from Ziegler for my 4.5 year old truck for 5 years unlimited miles of coverage and one for same but new with 8 years and 125,000 miles is about equal. While it might have been a bit cheaper at time of purchase, I think the difference is not significant. Pricing for plans from new or post warranty use actuarial tables that account for most initial repairs being under warranty.

But that is also why I suggested a 3rd party one, there are quality plans that sometimes provides more flexibility.

We've got Protective and so far can't complain. Different plans, terms are negotiable, $100 deductible.

Things may have changed since I shopped mine years ago. When I priced Mopar ESPs the new one was going to be over $1K cheaper than a used one. I was also only shopping unlimited miles plans so that may have factored into it.

Buying an ESP at the financing desk is going to be very pricey. You can roll it into your monthly payment to make it affordable but the dealership makes a killing on selling ESPs, especially 3rd party ones.

I bought a used car last year for my kids and the finance guy was 'nice' to me since I was buying used and not new. He told me that the dealership usually makes $3000 profit on each ESP they sell but, since I was buying an older used car, he would make me a "deal" and only make $1000 profit on the ESP if I wanted one. Ummm...no thanks.

Even when I bought my truck I told the finance guy I'd get a Mopar ESP if he could be within $100 of the Zeigler quote I showed him and he all but laughed in my face. He wanted over $5K for the same policy I got from Zeigler for just over $3K.

I've got nothing against 3rd party ESPs but I didn't want the hassle of making a claim to get authorization every time and I have heard a lot more bad than good about them.

With my Mopar ESP it was attached to my VIN, every dealership honored it, knew what was covered, and getting my truck back was never tied to them getting paid. If that cost me a bit more than a 3rd party policy then it was well worth the cost for convenience for me. YMMV

A redacted version of my Mopar ESP is below. Cancellation policy and refund entitlements are on page 8.

All of these guys beat Zeigler. I listed them in order of best price.

2 - Victor Riedman, Mopar MaxCare, 765-222-1356,
3 - Joe Topor, Chrysler Warrantys, 888-918-9840,
4 - Jason Edmundson, Chrysler Warranty Direct, 517-662-0400,

You absolutely get a prorated refund if you cancel your Mopar extended service plan. I got it for my '17 when I sold it.
I drug my feet when I bought the '20 and next thing I knew the 3 year 36,000 bumper to bumper was over. I looked into the extended and it was over $5,000 and that was with all the ones everybody posts on here saying they are the cheapest. So once your truck out of warranty Mopar slams you.

Shop for a MOPAR extended warranty
they are good at any dealership, even in Canada & i believe Mexico too, if you are in an area with no Mopar dealerships, you can call & request that an ordinary garage do the work.

No 3rd party plan does that, at least none that i have read about

Not always. I ordered/bought my 22 from Granger, and got the Mopar Extended Warranty when I picked the truck up in October. They were doing the same $50 over their cost they are doing now. I did call and price online with all the big names, and it was the best price by far at Granger.

But going in blind to most dealers, I agree with you. Most will try to stick it to you pretty hard.

Why don't you get a MOPAR extended warranty? Two years free financing, and there is NEVER any question about it paying. Yes it costs more, but no charge for diagnosis, fluids, gaskets, or using parts that are not fully covered. I found these "almost as good as MOPAR warranty companies are never as good.

be very careful if you purchase an after market warranty. I had one thru Endurance on my 2011 Ram and when my motor went bad they denied my claim because i changed my oil according to my mileage and thy stated in had to be changed every 6 months regardless of milage

Negotiate with them ... When I bought my 2020 they wanted $2400 for the extended warranty ... I was purchasing my third RAM from them and I made it clear that if they didn't do better, it may be the last one ... I offered $1,649 for the warranty and they came back with $1,699 ... Done deal ...

I know it’s high but one major out of warranty problem will cost you that. And 3rd party warranty lots of times don’t pay

Varies by many things. Go here and enter your info. It will get you in the ballpark. But other providers, as detailed earlier in this thread, may be cheaper.
