So guys my 2016 2500 when I open my console the stereo screen go to AUX and then when closed it comes back. If Im hooked to media with my phone It go's to Aux and stays there, I have to reselect blue tooth. I haven't tore it apart yet but dont see any wiring. I can actually lean on the console and it does the same. The other day I was in a hurry and Im not sure if my elbow was pushing on the top of the console but when I clipped my seat belt it went to aux. Is this a common problem with a fix like regrounding? Thanks

It's probably the USB cable that runs to the media port in the console. There's a connection under the console right below the radio bezel you could disconnect to test if that's causing the problem.

Thanks I'll look for that plug and give it a try.

I'm wondering if the console latch is negative grounded and opening it ungrounds it or leaning on it pushes the latch down to where its not making contact?.

The latch for the console lid is mounted entirely on plastic. I've had mine out a couple of times installing a new media port when I upgraded to a UAQ radio.
You might want to pull the console tray out and check the wiring on the back of the media port also.

No. Most likely the console USB cable going to the stereo is pinched and shorting out near the console.

Had the same issue with my 2016. The cable from the USB inside the arm rest goes by the hinge in the back of the armrest. Constant flexing of the cable causes it to break and short inside.

If you remove the back piece of the arm rest where the rear vents are (it pulls off) you will find 2 plugs from the harness. You can unplug it, and the problem will be solved. BUT the USB ports inside the arm rest will no longer work.
