Back in high school one of the guys put a Porsche drivetrain in a VW bug. It was pretty respectable.
I'd like to know what AZN on Street Outlaws has in that bug that he calls the Dung Beetle,as there's not all that many cars it doesn't beat when they're out on one of their "fishing" expeditions, lol

In college, (50+ years ago), I knew a guy that put a Chevy 450 in the back of a Corvair, not the Corvette. It took up the whole back seat, no firewall. I could sit in the passenger seat and touch the engine. It was incredibly loud but boy could it move……..

A beetle has the funky swing arm rear end. They do some strange things at speed. If you hit anything there is nothing in front of you. It is a dangerous contraption. There are so many better platforms for performance.

I believe it is currently a 2.5L Subaru motor, with some work done obviously

There used to kits to put a smallblock Chevy in a Corvair, there's a guy that does the local car show scene here, with one of them. It's actually a pretty neat install, but i have no idea of how it works,as i've only ever seen it at the local car shows.

@Wild one I will see your Hemi powered Beetle and raise you to a 350HP Hayabusa go-kart
The power to weight ratio is nutz!
They could both use an AWD system to get the power to the ground better.

Got to go against the grain here:

NO. Just No.

Take a lesson form the Scientists, who developed the Bomb:
Just because you can do something, does not mean, you should.

Let's do any more of that VW hemi crap and
while we are at it, let's try to avoid creating Skynet.

...but more horsepower.
Drove a racing go-kart that was flirting with 100HP, that was a riot.
As for that 400HP cart engine, it would be a blast in a small sand rail

I did a double take the first time I saw a Chevy small block in a motorcycle. The guy told me it scared him sometimes, which I believed!

It was probably a Boss Hoss Motorcycle, they've been building them for years.
Can't forget about Dodge one-upping them a making a V-10 Viper engine motorcycle.

I put a Porsche modded Porsche 356 in my 1971 VW van. Worst mistake I ever made - relative to cars. No vacuum taps for the vacuum-assist brakes, no rear engine bolt holes to engage the rear engine support (which Porsches don't use), vrey unhappy below 3,500 RPM with the cam it had in it, etc. Eventually, it failed to pass smog inspection and had to be restored to "normal". Lots of money and time behind every one of these issues, and more, but it did "come off the line" like no other VW bus I've driven.
