I currently have the All Terrain tires on the truck (they got installed on delivery) and I wanted to know if theirs a big difference in gas mileage if I were to swap the tires back to the OEM ones for the summer (cost $160 to swap and another $160 to swap back to the A/T for next winter)

Current set up: Nokian Outpost A/T tires (plan on using it for winter/summer) - 275-60-20
Brand new OEM tires (Goodyear Wrangler) taken off. - 275-60-20

Thanks in advance!

are the A/T a differet diameter tire? if so...maybe?? but as others have said, hard to say if there is MORE than $320 in savings. plus, I'm not so sure about removing and mounting the same tire over and over again. not quite sure if that is too ideal.

You will get better mileage, however you will not save $320.00 . Plus most OEM tires are not good at all for traction in wet conditions or lifespan of the tires and possibly oneself.

Even if they are the same size, OEM tires will weigh less, and that's where any fuel savings will happen. But nowhere near $320 in 6-ish months of driving, unless they are putting on a ton of miles. Which brings up the fact that tread wear on OEM tires isn't usually as good as aftermarket tires.

You will do far better selling the OEM take-offs and using that cash for gas.
...but I don't get the impression he has new wheels too, he just installed new A/T tires. hence why he won't have a separate set of wheels with street slicks on them for any chosen seasonal use.

which oem's and which a/t, and what are you doing with your truck ? my oem's are on oem powerwagon rims with the tpms swapped to my summer travel trailer towing ridge grapplers on aftermarket rims very similar to the stock ones with a higher rating.my winter tires don't get tpms sensors, too much of a pain.every time the temp changes they go haywire on me.gas mileage? not even a factor.for me,it's all about the right tire for the season.

When I bought my '21 in January '22, the stock OEM all-season tires were junk.

I would sell the OEM tires and buy something decent. A crap tire won't help you to enjoy your truck and won't last long. Any amount you can get is best used for gas money or towards buying good tires, as others have mentioned already.

Fortunately for me, I had just bought new summer & winter tires for my previous truck and negotiated a big tire shuffle.

The dealer sold me new 17" OEM steel rims for $69 Canadian each and installed my BFG KO2s that I dropped off. And transferred the Michelin Defenders from my trade-in to the Ram 20" rims.

As previously mentioned, peeling tires off the rim every 6 months will not help in the longevity of the tires.

If you want both summer & winter tires, a set of steel rims for the winter tires is cost-effective for new or used rims, steel is better than alloy up here where the roads are filled with chemical crap, and if you have the space/time/trolly jack, very easy to switch between seasons yourself or rotate on mileage/use.

Also, as much as I love blasting around the snow-covered roads with my BGFs, I look forward to installing the summer wheels with Michelin Defenders every year. They're a bit quieter, make the ride feel a bit more luxurious, and increase my mileage a wee bit.

That's what I tell myself anyway.

^ the OEM good-for-a-year garbage wrangler rs-a tires are as useless as tata's on a bull, in rain, or any road conditions for that matter; just garbage!

As many have said, get a dedicated winter rim/tire package and a dedicated summer rim/tire package and get at least 4 years of use out of them all.

Also, breaking tires on and off rims that much will weaken and could compromise the overall integrity of the tire bead mount lips. Stretching them on and off is not a long term value add for any tire.

I run a 17" winter rim/tire package on my 19' 1500 HEMI with Blizzak DM-V2's, and then put my summer 20's back on with LT285/65R20 BFG KO2's. Couldn't be happier with the set ups.

Had Goodyear Wrangler All Season on mine when I bought it, and switched them out after a year to Toyo Open Country AT IIs and saw no difference after the switch. Probably replace them (after 5 years) this fall for the Toyo Open Country AT IIIs, makes it much easier not have to switch tires twice a year, not that we get much winter here.

Like some guys said it here, those good years are complete garbage, especially on wet pavement. I wouldn't put them on even if I'd get them for free. Keep your Nokian tires on and you won't regret anything. Those are great year round all season tires since they're snow rated, too.

You have stolen my thunder...plagiarized every last word...I must now sit back and read patiently and await another opportunity to express such sentiments on another thread. :Big Laugh:
