Worth a shot. At least you know the setting is set to allow it. I agree with all of you that this is quite a large oversight and a terrible integration/waste of a display. Does it always duplicate the media player?
No you can pick from a few different ram widgets like contacts, media control, ac control and a few others

My wife's Ford got the full screen for Car Play and AA not long ago. At first it wasn't a big deal for AA. But man, now the full screen AA "Coolwalk" release looks slick on her Ford. I just wanted to add my excitement for a Ram Cares AA Full Screen update.

It does go full screen if you touch on an app. Like if you touch the map it'll enlarge the map. And then you can go back to tiled mode via the tile icon that replaces the 3x3 dots.

100% does not go full screen... it still only occupies the top 1/2 of the 12" screen.

You want a guarantee that they'll add a feature you never paid for, nor did they ever agree to provide, at some point in the future?

Your truck came a certain way when you bought it. Short of warranty replacements, there are no guarantees about anything.
You are WAY too forgiving with simple features. Is it not reasonable to expect a simple feature like fullscreen when you market your infotainment screen as a selling point? Oh, and the NOT 19 speaker system lol.
I agree and the people complaining should just head to the Apple store for an I-phone. Seems that phone is much more fitting for them.
I will never buy an iPhone, I already have a dad, I don't need another one in my phone.

It does not.
How are folks even sure this is a RAM problem? AA and Carplay simply use the infotainment system as a touch screen monitor. All of the "smarts" are on the phone. It would seem since Carplay is able to detect the infotainment screen size and resize its monitor settings to match the 12" infotainment screen then AA should be able to as well. Perhaps the ire is misdirected.
It is absolutely a Uconnect problem. Android Auto works in full screen in literally EVERY other manufacturer's larger screen. This is only Uconnect and their garbage IT. Android apps, though not universal, are designed to stretch to fit varying screen resolutions/sizes automatically.

You didn't pay for any upgrades in the software, so you can't demand changes. It is not reasonable to expect "simple" feature updates unless Ram explicitly offered that (which they don't). Nothing about uconnect or AA is simple.

And as we pointed out, this is probably an android auto thing and not a uconnect thing. Ram can't make google update their software, complain to google!

It is 100% a uConnect thing. The infotainment system tells Android Auto the dimensions it can utilize saving the rest of the screen for the uConnect software. A previous uConnect update increased the dimensions available for Car Play but not for Android Auto. It is a really easy fix and I am sure it was just a miss. Now we just have to wait for the next update and I fully expect it to allow AA in full screen. Just got to be patient which a lot of us do not have.

This doesn't mean much by itself. Software doesn't necessarily/automatically use whatever resolution it's given, it has to be designed to work in certain widths/heights/aspect ratios. There is no guarantee that AA can actually work properly at the very odd/unique resolution of the 12 inch.

Just speaking as somebody who has written software since 1997. I don't know a whole lot about either AA or UC but chances are if AA worked correctly at that screen size, then it would have been updated by now.

Software is never as easy as the end user thinks.

That's cool, I have been writing code since 1992. I have even wrote code for Android. I guarantee you AA will work perfectly full screen just like Car Play. I have seen it first hand.

You should definitely work for UC.

Are the updates on the uconnect silent updates? I bought my truck in late June and I haven't yet seen any update notices. Fortunately I use a pixel 6 / Android 13 and I haven't had any connection issues, except for the "gps signal lost", whatever that is.
Just saw this post and wanted to give you some info on how I resolved my "GPS signal lost" problems. Every so often, I start up Android Auto and within a few seconds get the signal lost warning. I spent a lot of time jumping through hoops trying to fix the problem but for the most part, nothing seemed to work. Then a short time back, I came across some instructions that said to simply update the Android Auto app on my phone, and suddenly the "GPS signal lost" warning went away. Hope it helps.

@RamCares Any update on this? Android market share is ~73% worldwide, ~43% stateside so you're inconveniencing near half of your customers.
Hi Recky,

There are no available updates on this capability at this time. If further details are available, we're happy to share with the rest of the forum.

@RamCares it's that time again. Any update on this? The initial roll-out of "Coolwalk" began almost six months ago and was announced and almost two years ago so you've had ample time.

Hi Recky,

Sorry, but we have no available updates at this time. We'll return to share on the thread once we receive any confirmation for you.

Uconnect is garbage. So many problems. And the fact that the screens don't go full screen with AA is due to uConnect not updating their firmware to handle the release of AA Coolwalk. There are a handful of other car manufactures still updating. Hyundai and Kia announced 2 weeks ago that they had finally released an update to their system firmware to handle the release of AA Coolwalk correctly.

I think everyone here knows that Ram doesn't have to release any update at all, but that is what makes their uConnect radios such crap. Should they update it? Yes. Will they? Probably not since they have **** developers who can barely even get the USB hubs in our trucks working properly. If you want a good entertainment system in your truck you really need to go aftermarket.

It's killing me uconnect hasn't made this a priority. And I'm sure ram marketing is going nuts that they can't advertise full screen AA as a feature for the 2023's or the upcoming 2024's when all their competition already has this feature.

I actually paid over $70,000 for the truck, with a highly-marketed 12" Uconnect system and 19 speakers, and expecting a complete product. So yes, I did pay for all upgrades to this system, as parts, sales, and service are income to Stellantis that in turn pays for the product support, including all warranty. As a customer, I fully expect the simple things in addition to the more complex. I am driving a truck, which is a complex system. It is made up of simpler systems. Are you implying that I am simply to shut up and just hand over the cash, and accept mediocrity, because this is a "simple" feature? You may choose this, but I absolutely do not.

As a business owner, my clients would not allow me to provide a sub-par product, but would shop me around for someone who either provides a better product for the same price, a similar product for less price, or a better product for a better price. This is business 101. Nice is not part of this equation unless one does not like to be in business.

As far as complaining to Google, yes, they botch a lot of things. However, I seriously doubt they are to blame here. Do yo not think that Uconnect would be stating clearly that it is not their shortcomings causing the still lack of full screen for Android Auto, over 4 years after the inception and release of the 12" screen? I do. I would also like to point out, in case it was missed, that full screen works in all of Stellantis' competition, solely excluding us. This is the main clue supporting my stance.

I think we who use our hard-earned money need to indeed vote with our money. I bought this Ram because my F150 I bought in 2020 had the 5.0 Coyote issue of using oil and at 20k miles sounding like I never changed the oil despite following the recommended service intervals. The Ram has less real-world power, far poorer fuel economy, and the in-dash technology is a constant complaint, not only limited to the annoying non full screen AA. The unit is glitchy and cumbersome. As such, I will not be buying another Ram truck for my next vehicle.

Go buy a GM then. God bless.

@RamCares saw there was a UConnect update last night. Turned on my truck this morning and....no change. Is the team even aware of this glaring omission?

While I work in the AAA gaming space and haven't touched Java in almost 20 years I'd imagine it can't be too hard to step back into those shoes and fix this for everyone. Let me know if you're hiring temp contractors remotely, would love to make up for the team's apparent shortcomings.
