12k pound. Hazard Fraught Apex Badlands. Was less than $500 bux with the coupon. I figured I'd burn up a cheap one while I figure out my setup before spending wildly on a warn.

Prilly not smart but meh its here.

If it's the Apex Badlands you probably won't burn it out, plus you can do walk in exchanges for warranty, kind of priceless.

Yeah well, lack of winch knowledge here might be a favtor. However, it was this video that made me think it might be an ok winch.

Here's one of the channels I follow that he uses the Apex exclusively and for commercial towing and recovery use.

I’ve got my eye on the new smittybilt winch. Was looking at the apex but the smittybilt holds more line and has a higher hp rating on the motor.

Yeah I looked at them too. I also looked at SuperWinch. I prefer SW over most of the others in fact. But the spread was nearly $400 between SW and the Apex at the time I purchased. If one looks at SW, it seems the Apex is a closer match to it than the Warn, even though HF compares the Apex and Warn.

Done and out of the garage. While I was out there the new fairlead showed up. I cant imagine a better color match between AEVs fairlead and Apexs hook.

Before I started I took a measurement and after I gained a total of half an inch. Given that I added nearly 300 pounds to the front end I'll take it.

someone talk me out of these flares... The wife green lighted them. So that throws many questions in to my mind. What did she buy? Is she f'ing with me? Am I dying? Does she think they'll look stupid and simply wants people to laugh at me? hmmm so many possibilities..

I like the fact that they attach to the fender so there's no vibration and no rubbing on the paint. Definitely interesting.

That's definitely a look, don't you have flares?

EDIT: Refreshed the page, why the flare change?

Dunno. I want something that isn't going to vibrate to hell and back and take off the paint. I knew what I was getting in to with these, but it's nice to know there's options that would save me drilling in to the fenders to save them. I dunno saw em and kind of liked em.

Don’t do it

Gives it a much more ‘Square’ look. At first sight, that’s all you notice…. Is fender flare. Same look that Chevy owners have now.

My two cents…… stick with style you have now. Flows much better and compliments all the work you’ve done. :waytogo:

I dunno, i got he bumper at a 20% off sale. So it would have been 80% of 920. I had the welders so $0 there. $480 for the winch.
$250 for the Rigid lights, still say it's a waste.. $170 for the Diode Dynamics, much better light in every way. $140 for the raptor liner but I have 50% left for other stuff. $149 for the fairlead.

Right at $1850 all in. Yeesh..

Just told the wife I'm looking at new wheels... LOL... beadlocks. Set of 5. Bwahahaha

Also I cannot over state how clutch these things are when doing add-on wiring underneath and you dont want to drill.hole for mounting hardware. Absolute life saver.

I really need black headlights though.
I second this!

Just found this thread, towards the beginning you mentioned needing black headlights, I kept scrolling looking for when you got them, got to the end and you still haven't, lol

Awesome truck though, beadlocks sounds sweet

Thanks. Unfortunately I go back and forth about the headlights. And the back and forth is between aftermarket and factory. I can't decide. Honestly I'm waiting for a pair to come up on market place to give the black lights a shot. BUT the other stuff has been higher on the list than the lights. Other than the color the factory chrome work just fine for me.

Now that the winch is on I gotta get it respooled, or at least set as recommended in the manual. After that I think it's time to actually start banging this thing around. My daughter is almost to camping age where she won't cry and complain so bad that I'll want to pack up and head out. My son is mostly recovered from the aneurysms. So we'll see.
