I get a weird battery symbol on my dash every morning at the first start. There does not seem to be any hesitation to start, but it is not as quick. Then for the rest of the day, the vehicle starts up normal and the battery symbol is no long there. This is fairly recent. My recently changed the battery so I'm pretty sure that it cannot be that.
According to the mechanic, my alternator is weak and may not be charging the battery in the way that it should. So I may have to replace it. I know I have one of those smart alternators as well.
I am trying to setup a dual battery system similar to the one in the video and a friend said that I should look into upgrading the alternator if I am to do so.
I'm trying to figure out what is the best route right now.
Do I just get a replacement?
Do I upgrade the alternator and if Yes, to what?
Can I use a constant output one and not a smart one? If Yes, will a constant output cause any issues with the rest of the vehicle's electrics?
