My drag link was welded right after the recall came out. My dealer did this when my truck was in the shop for an unrelated issue. I wasn't given the chance to say "yes" or "no" to the "fix", they just did it. I reached out to RamCares and voiced my displeasure with their "fix" for this issue and was rather quickly provided with the new, updated drag link which the dealer replaced. Very satisfied with the end result and I encourage anyone that is not happy with the welded jam nut "fix" to reach out to RamCares. I am convinced that they will make it right for you.

We appreciate your feedback on this as it is very important to us. Should you need any further assistance, please let us know.

I was parking the truck (2016 2500 Hemi with 144K), heard a snap and the steering goes limp. Drag link is no joke. Called FCA (RAM) and they called the dealer. The dealer is taking care of everything under the recall. Thank God this did not happen on the highway.
On the flip side, wife is concerned and asked if it's time for a new truck. I looked at the current truck prices and said nope. Will drive this to 200K and then make a decision. Great truck otherwise.

OH, My GQAWD!!!

The proper response was:
Yes, Dear, time for a new truck and while we are there, a new Lime Green, Convertible Challenger, for you.

These types of events do not often occur, so i can understand the stunning wrong answer being given.

On my 22 2500 Ltd Longhorn, the sunroof was a separate option. I could have opted to not have it and still get the premium uConnect system.

That's fine and dandy, but I want the sunroof WITHOUT the premium uConnect system. You can't do that per Ram's configurator.

I just did it at Ram.com. I started with a 2023 Ltd Longhorn Mega 2500. The sunroof is a stand alone option. You can get it along with the non-premium 8.4" uConnect system. The Longhorn Level 1 package includes the 12" system, so you can't pick it if you want the 8.4.

I received my dealer appointment today to replace my welded drag link.

Thank you @RamCares and OP.
Make sure they have the part in stock before dropping it off. That bit me once getting mine replaced. Took it in, called back later in the day to find out they didn't even have the part. Frustrating.

Who scheduled the service appointment, you or them?
Was the appointment made in anticipation of receiving the part? Or was the appointment auto generated?
Trying to figure out what to do. In my case, the dealer scheduled an appointment for me, I didn't contact them. RamCares told me they would contact me when they had the part.

Hello,

We looked at your case file further, part was in stock. Brian the Service Director was suppose to get in contact with you. We have sent the preapproval for the repair over to the dealer. We recommend getting in contact with the dealer if you have not heard back. Thank you

William,
I commented the way I did because the dealer sent me a robo appointment without commenting. No one contacted me in person, so I don't know.

And make sure they actually install it.....

Sat at my dealer for a couple hours waiting for mine and they said it was done, grabbed my keys and went to leave. Decide to look under the truck..... it was my same old link. The tech just "inspected" it. My new drag link was still sitting in the service mangers office. I was not happy but obviously they swapped it asap after that.

I don't remember for sure, it's been a while. I believe RamCares told me the dealer had the part and I made the appt.

You got me wondering, is there a place where I can check to see if my 2016 3500 has this recall and if it has been corrected?

Yes it has this recall and the easiest way to tell if it has been done is to look at the drag link. If it was done it will be welded. Being that you are unaware of this I doubt you have the new one as you would have to have requested it.

Nope, not really. I got the recall notice years ago and never did anything about it because i check it periodically and it has always been tight. And quite frankly i didnt want it welded up anyway…would replace it before i let that happen. Welllllll….i took my truck in to the dealer to have the trans fluid changed and while it was in there the kakas welded my drag link up. They never asked me about it. Hell they didnt even tell me about it. Kinda pissed me off but it is what it is i guess…i suppose they are legally supposed to do the recall on anything that comes into their shop. But what grinded me was it was not that long ago, so the new part was certainly available…but they just welded the damn thing instead. So dumb.

Nope not really to what? He asked if his truck fell under the recall, the answer is yes it did.

He asked if his could have possibly been welded already…you said he would have had to request it. I was just saying no thats not the case. Carry on.

Huh?

Here is what he said and I responded to. He said nothing about the weld. I think you got confused on what I was responding to.
