My truck is currently rolling on it's second set of Goodyear Wrangler "MAYPOP's" ... I managed to get 44,000 miles on the first set that my truck made it off of the assembly line with, so I slapped on another set.

I've not had issues with these tires as most here have on my present and previous RAMS. I don't even need a truck, I just have liked pickups since I was old enough to drive, so crappy Goodyear "made over wants to be a truck tire" does just fine for me. My truck gets the same treatment as my Harley Davidson ... no ride in the rain and on pavement only.

To each their own that meets their needs.

I've run Falkens on my last two RAM's and have been happy, but I am still partial to BFG KO2's. I had 17" E rated ones on my old RAM not because of towing, but at the time I was driving, curb hopping and parking in lots that were once buildings, in less than ideal places working in my not-so-great city. I bought them for the strong sidewalls and deep lugs not wanting to come out to a flat after a 48 hr or longer shift. I've pulled out countless nails and sheetrock screws from the lugs which would've pierced lesser tires. Weather wasn't an excuse for me not getting to work and they never failed me. They drove firmer which I didn't mind (especially coming from sh*tty SRA's) but noise wasn't an issue. They also dropped my MPG down a bit but that was expected. I don't subject my tires to the same punishment these days and drive less, so price was also a factor in getting the Falkens. But ultimately - for a truck rated tire - my vote is still the KO2's.

Well its about time to replace my Toyos. I do like the way they ride and have worn very well. I just am not sure I want spend Toyo money again. The truck is going to be retired from DD duty next spring. Im keeping it, but I need to get a new DD. I was thinking the General Grabber ATX tires. Are they still decent?

Yeah, for the money, still a great little tire.
They'd run those on our Crew Hauler vans, at the RR.
Those tire would go all over the Rail yard & rarely have any issues.
Many others would pop like balloons at a kids party.

Pretty good overall tire. I preferred my Michelins but the Grabbers seemed to do slightly better in the just start snowing slicker than crap stuff.
Those first 20 minutes of a 'Holy Crap' type of snow storm.

I can attest to the Falkens. I'm 60k miles in on my set and plan to replace them next fall if possible. I just took a nail right on the curve of the sidewall so we'll see if I end up new tires for Christmas. I would probably buy another set. They wear well, and aren't noisy. I never had trouble in the WI winters either.

HOLY CRAP DID THEY GET FRIGGIN EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! $480 A TIRE????????

I've been very happy with my Grabber A/Tx. I've had them about 18 months and have put about 25k miles on them. I didn't measure the tread depth, but they show no signs of appreciable wear. I'm positive they'll go 60k+ easily. They've been great in every condition and I've done some towing with them as well. Unless something changes drastically, I'll definitely replace them with the same when they wear out.

I liked the original Good Year SRA ! Did well for me .

As far as I know they are. Mine are 2 years old, probably have 20,000 miles on them, wearing well, rubber still soft, no tread separating or noise.

If I ever build a drift car I will get some of those again, otherwise those wont touch a vehicle I own. The positive, those do handle noticeably better then at's, likely better mileage as well, cornering is great as well. Cons, the lack of traction combined with an empty light truck bed and I found myself feathering the throttle in the rain literally all of the time around corners or taking off from a stop, or stopping hard, imo just flat dangerous. Now, my bfg's surely arent as comfortable at the GY's, but in the rainiest year I can remember I couldnt break traction if I wanted too. It's kinda like there is more to picking a tire then I thought, kind of a balancing act to find comfort and safety. BFG load e, not the most comfortable but do get better over time, but very safe. I do see why mich's are so popular, they really seam to have the comfort and safety thing down, we have them on the suv for many years like 8 on one set. It does take a little effort and thought to find the best all around tire, and imo I failed at it. I think I would have been happier with lighter then load e's 10 ply, but those GY's were just dangerous for me anyhow. Less then 25k miles they were bald as well.

A handful of the brands listed are made at the same palce by cooper. As well as toyo.

If I could I would only run toyo or BFG but based on load carrying capacity i need and tread patterns +price BFG is out of the picture. They have the tread patterns i really prefer but the load ratings blow for heavy trucks.
Toyo is way better for that but dang near ALL of them are outrageously priced now.

So my next set may be some TreadWright MT’s with the milage warranty.

My dream tire is the BFGKM3. Iv had the KM2 on a smaller truck and they were amazing. The KM3 just has way to light of a load rating

The toyo MT was a top 3 tire for me.

Currently on Kumho MT71’s and they perform better than the toyos in all aspects besides cupping. They need rotations way more often so they probably wont last as long. In the mud they are AMAZING. Best yet hands down for mud and when snow gets 10”+ deep.

If I splurged when next tires purchase comes it will be the Kumho MT71 again or the toyoMT.

Best AT ever from my experience is the BFG KO+KO2, cooper AT3 and the toyo AT2 in an LT

So Michelin lovers if you want traditional Michelin quality, buy a set in 2023, maybe even store a set. In 2024 they are going to start including recycled plastic into their consumer tires, so I say no thank you to this, I will opt out, but the choice is all of ours. Currently about 50% of tires are polymer which is plastic aka synthetic rubber, and natural rubber. So you already have fresh polymers in your tires. However, it will be an unknown how well recycled plastic will hold up. Personally, they can recycle plastic in many things other then the tires that carry families to destinations, so I'm not exactly sure why other then freak'n virtue signaling is the reason for this. Hopefully it works out, that is from the heart, I'd hate to see another mass tire fail like the firestone debacle. If you want to be a guinea pig, there is a tire for you.

It's already started - Michelin tires have become difficult to balance the past couple years, and had some separating issues. I don't know the cause, but quality defects are happening. My tire supplier (a mobile installer) is swaying customers away.

Edit: this is the case with truck tires and motorcycle tires, I've found out. I'm running General / Continental Grabber ATX tires on my truck (they've been fantastic), and Dunlop American Elite on my motorcycle (also fantastic).

I'm not pounding in the brush much anymore, and plan to go to an all season / highway truck tire next year. Goodyear makes some good commercial tires, most of their light duty tires are not good. Workhorse HT is newer and highly rated by customers. I also ran Goodyear G670 on my motorhome, much better than Michelin XRV.

My new 2023 Limited Longhorn South fork came from the factory with Falken tires, Must say the ride is smooth but the test didn,t come yet with the snow, will see.

The last two sets on tires I bought for the rav 4 where michelins, now I will never buy them again, was that the intended goal of these people? I had defenders two times ago and was blown away with these crossclimate tires I have on there now. They are amazing no doubt, but I rolled a truck because of recapped tires back in the day and there isnt a chance in hell I am paying for recycled parts in my tires. The ram gets bfg's, I will have to find a new tire for the wife's car. I could care less about any testing they do, the fact is it is recycled parts in tires. There is some really really dumb stuff going on in America right now, people running these companies are children, kids throwing tantrums or something and tanking companies with just dumb decision making. Tires are a pretty important feature to making it safely to a destination, do they think I care more about wokeism then making it somewhere safely?

To be fair I post what michelin says...

Michelin says its goal of "achieving 40% sustainable materials (of renewable or recycled origin) by 2030 and 100% by 2050" is one step closer to reality. The French tire giant has successfully tested a plastic recycling technology by French biochemistry company Carbios that can be used in tire production.

Carbios’ enzymatic recycling process for polyethylene terephthalate (more commonly known as PET) plastic waste relies on an enzyme that is capable of depolymerizing plastic. PET is the type of plastic used to make bottles, polyester clothing and even some types of carpets. It's commonly recycled (including into fleece jackets), but is also one major source of plastic waste. According to Michelin, conventional recycling practices do not result in a product suitable for use in tires, but the enzymatic process' resulting "high tenacity polyester is particularly suitable for tires, due to its breakage resistance, toughness, and thermal stability."

“These high-tech reinforcements have demonstrated their ability to provide performance identical to those from the oil industry," said Nicolas Seeboth, director of polymer research at Michelin, in a statement.




However, my opinion is once you denature things such as polymers, they never will be that strong again. I could care less what their PR department says, it is an unknown and I simply don't care, their goals are stupid and mean not a dam thing to me. I hope I can find something similar to crossclimate's that have new polymers not recycled. I hate to burst their bubble, but recycled plastics will only exist as long as plastics are being made. Like duh, the supply will generally run out at the same time. There is no massive storage lands being used for plastics, they are in the landfill or recycled that it is. So the goal imo is very mis guided. Find something sustainable and strong, plant a couple more forests of rubber trees? Find new ways to make plastic, yes that exists. But reuse denatured plastic to make 40% of your manufacturing? In order to make a difference with recycling, you would have to have massive lands storing it, but that isnt happening. Even CA is dumping most of it's recycling, back in the landfills, lol. Call me crazy I want the main goal of my tire company to be safety, not recycling. Find other uses for plastic other then tires imo. Two opinions, there's and mine, too bad they really had good tires.

Funny, their "goal" 100% recycled by 2050, oh man this is more dumb ish we have to listen to.

soy. I knew it was in the coatings on the outside of wiring in our vehicles, but had no idea it was in the tires..

Goodyear is not the only one doing it.. personally, I’m wondering if this kind of stuff is the reason that we’re seeing Tires three years old with lots of dry rot

Falkens do real well in wet and snow if they R AT3W's M & S rated. Biggest thing, watch your PSI's and once the weather changes and gets a lot colder, insure your cold tire PSI is where U are comfortable with.

Falkens do real well in wet and snow if they R AT3W's M & S rated. Biggest thing, watch your PSI's and once the weather changes and gets a lot colder, insure your cold tire PSI is where U are comfortable with.
Between them and General ATX, I went with General because they were made in US and Falken made in Thailand by parent company Sumitomo. Talked about making a plant in NY, don't know if they did.
