What is the hole in the back of the little cubby with the 115v power outlet below it?

A light?? Just curious I just installed the factory 115v power inverter in my tradesman and it was pretty straightforward with the right wiring harness installed. And power inverter that goes under the passages seat in the oem location.

Would you be referring to the small square'ish opening above the outlet in the first 2 pics that GTyankee has posted?

The only use I'm aware of is to provide access to a dash mounting screw.

I'm curious to know the Wattage capacity of your newly installed inverter. Care to share?

Even with the Laramie models, that cubby is there above the power plug.
I would say that it is just a Key storage & the place where they hide a mounting screw for the center stack

My Limited also has the small storage spot. Pretty sure it's to hold you pack of Wrigley's Spearmint Gum. ;)
I keep my pack of tire deflators in there, never even thought of gum. Wonder what other small stuff we can pack in there. Maybe I'll make a tiny cargo net for the opening.

I've also kept my remote FOBS for my Aux fuel tank pump and up/down remote valves for my airbags. Multi-purpose.

Most of those dashboard inverters, unless He put something in there not OEM, depending upon year, max wattage was 400 watts. Enuf to charge a phone, small things like that. U not gonna run any power tools, LOL.

I'm just curious to know if there's a range of different capacities available, mine is a feeble 150W.

I'm confident it would never be cost-effective to upgrade to a larger capacity, I'm just curious.

WHAT I would do, if for some unknown reason I need that capability, use a 2000W Pure Sine Inverter: That runs off of Battery, clip on alligator clips. But usually not need any of that, just a saying. SOME PPL actually buy them, hide them in the cab and direct wire them in. Others run longer wires and put in bed, etc, not something I would do, just stating what I have read/wat posted.

The real late newer ones, some were 400W, all the earlier ones were 150 W.

If I had a reason to own one, and couldn't buy something really cheap on sale, I'd just build one with the appropriate capacity.

I recently acted as a consultant for a buddy who built a mobile stand-alone inverter system. He uses it to recharge an underwater scooter battery and dive lights over several days. He likes to camp near the river we often dive at and a power source isn't usually available where he stays.

I installed 2 switches for the Fogs and a Light bar..2 switches fit perfect and you can run the wires for same out the back by drilling a little 1/4 in hole.

My 2023 3500 bighorn has front outlet, I want to add rear one. Do they share same inverter?

I have the same little storage spot, don't keep anything their.
I have the same power outlet on my 14 as well, The book says what the wattage is , but would have to go read it, its's not much, phone ,lap top charger.
I will check after coffee finished when I go for mail , if no one list it.

I keep the little 110V charging cube for my phone with it's cord coiled up in that cubby. Fits perfect and I always know where to find it. The output of the inverter is only enough to charge a phone or other electronic devises so I pretty much dedicate it to charging phones or tablets when we are traveling. I was contemplating swapping in a higher wattage inverter but it looked like a pain to try and mount it in place of the original. If I ever want more wattage I most likely will mount a second inverter in another location.

My son used mine once to plug in his laptop on a long trip. Little cubby hole is always empty.
