Has anyone installed one of these they are particularly happy with? These seem priced awfully high for what they do, so wanted to see which ones might be recommended. If it could show the rear camera at any time, that would also be a cool feature.

If your looking for using CarPlay, upgrade the 8.4 radio in your truck to a UAQ or UAS, those are from a '18 and newer Gen4 truck.
You'll also need to replace the media USB hub also.

I already have that on order from 4thgenmods. I would like to add WIRELESS carplay as well as the ability to use other apps ala Magicbox. So far, I have found this unit that sells for about $100 less than the Magicbox unit and seems to be the exact same unit.

I have an AAWireless, and other than the fact that the damn ram doesn't turn off the USB ports, I'm mostly happy with it.

I did get the wife an Ottocast for her Rav4 for CARPLAY, as I was tired of replacing "good" lighting cables every 2-3 months, as she can't not use the damn phone in the car, so she jerks the cables 300 times a day, and she wraps the cable around the shifter, so it gets stressed/pulled. I reasoned the $80 for her Carplay adapter would pay back before the chinesium killed itself.

I got the AAWireless for myself, as the phone I had had issues with wired Android Auto. (Well, really, it just needed a direct connection to a nuclear reactor to charge...)

But I like the convenience of not having to plug in all the time. I need to do the mod where I swap pins 5 and 7 on the hub, see if shutting it down when the truck turns off clears my last issue. (It seems to be the "auto off" function that only connects when the phone is connected to the truck might be a little wonky. But it's either use that, or the phone connects all night long to the truck, which can't be good for the truck.)

What do you mean by the USB ports don't shut down? My 2018's ports shut down, using the ones in the center console. They shut off as soon as the radio shuts off when I open the door or it times out.

I don't know about the newer trucks but my 2016 keeps the USB ports powered even when the key and radio are off. I did this and now it works just like I want it to with my Motorola MA1

I just got the Ottocast for my 2019 and found that it doesn't turned off when I turn off the truck. I guess I will be unplugging it every time.

You can mod the media USB port power to turn off with the truck, then there's no need to unplug:

I use a Motorola MA1 and it works flawlessly. I just jump in throw my hone in my cup or phone holder and go. I have a wireless charger and can just throw the phone on it for longer trips. Works great.

So will any of these adapters allow a 2016 RAM 1500 that currently doesn’t have CarPlay to add CarPlay? As I would like to have a way to upgrade to CarPlay without changing the radio head unit if I could.

No. Need to change radio. The wireless simply gets rid of the need to plug it in.
