Delivery is dealer specific. Call your dealer and ask them as it varies greatly based on dealer volume, exact model, and accessories ordered. Higher end trucks like Laramie and Limited have been taking longer than a Tradesman for instance.

The last time that i went looking for an answer, the only thing that i read & remembered, was that

Microprocessors are still hard to come by, banks are having problems getting bank cards, like ATM & CC

Ram Headquarters has made the statement, that when the get a batch of Chips in, most of the chips will go into the 5th Generation, new body style Rams & if there is enough, the rest will go to the Ram Classic body style.
There was no mention about the Heavy Duty Rams

There also no statement about the rest of the vehicles made by Stellantis, ( Chrysler )

Wait times are getting shorter
It is far from the pre-covid time of 3 months, from ordering date to delivery from Michigan to California.

I don't think that any Ram coming out of Michigan & going to most places in the USA, will take 6 months, from this point on

It will speed up the process, when more computer chips become available
The brand new Chip factories that are being built here in the USA right now, won't make any chips before 2024 & the first chip factory to start production will be in Arizona, near Phoenix

The TSMC factory, or fab, is massive and will feature state-of-the-art technology when it begins commercial operation in 2024. It sits on more than 1,000 acres in north Phoenix just west of Interstate 17 along West Dove Valley Road — the huge cranes and new buildings are visible from the freeway.

Yikes! E-GADS! Half a year? I'd want a year end clearance discount.
Half a year was considered good for an HD last year. Mine took almost exactly 6 months, and I felt like one of the lucky ones. Many waited much longer than that. It seems that is coming down, but I'd expect a few months at least. GM and Ford are no faster, from what I've read.

Determining if the wait is worth it is an individual call. When you need it, interest rates, the amount of patience you have, etc all play a role. But if you are willing to wait, you can save a lot of money by ordering from dealers like Mark Dodge in Lake Charles, Louisiana or Granger in Des Moines, IA. They give about 11.5% off MSRP on ordered trucks.

Thanks for the tip on Mark Dodge and Granger. Is that Granger a Ram Dealership, or Granger Industrial in Des Moines?

I was screaming yikes at the models Dealers were offering. I wanted a specific rig to travel with a TT. Every Dealer had some wonky options that - IMO - whoever orders should be kicked in the shin. Ford was the worst with options for models at Dealers.

I got exactly what I wanted and with a % off. IMO, the % off only made it equal to the price of competitors. Moreover, Ford, Toyota, GMC all had their books closed. End of the year clearances for RAM were not as advantageous as the % off.

In the end, I got exactly what I wanted.

My Laramie was just 3 weeks shy of being a year to build. At the time I purchased it they were thinking it would be 3-4 months. Some of it matters what options you have. With the digging I did on mine, everything pointed to the 5th wheel package parts holding things up. I call it my forever truck... not cause I am going to keep it forever, because it took forever to get here.

While I was in TX last week I read a news report about the railroads having problems with people breaking into the rail transport cars coming out of Mexico an damaging the vehicles inside, I wonder how many of the delays of vehicles we have all read about were due to damage while in rail transit.....

Doesn't it take longer for the HD trucks to come on rail out of Mexico than the U.S. built 1500s from Michigan? "Pure Michigan" that is.

Mexico seems to do things differently

The thing to keep in mind, is that a trains freight car is reserved for vehicles that is going to a single point. In other words, a freight car will only haul Rams going to the same town, like it would not haul Rams going to Florida & Georgia, it would completely unload all Rams at a single place.
Now in the case of Ram 1500s, they are being made in 2 Michigan Assembly Plants, so filling a single freight car with Florida Rams is no problem at all, there may be 3 or 4 Freight cars going to Florida in a week.

Now on the other hand, down at the Ram plant in Saltillo Mexico, it may take a month or more to fill a freight car going to Florida with Heavy Duty Rams

Was going to order my truck last September. That was the at the height of the chip shortage. Luckily found one with more stuff on it than I was going to order, at $10k less than the new one would have cost.
