Does anyone make pre-cut magnetic armor for the Power Wagon like they do for Jeeps, etc? Many of the trails I have local access to are likely to have some brush rubbing against the panels and I'd rather have some protection for the paint.

If not, I'll buy some rolls of flexible magnetic material and cut my own, but if there's a reasonably priced source on a precut kit I'd like to take a look at it.

If you find a source please post it. I need something to protect the paint.

I wrapped my truck knowing all our trails are tight and narrow With lots of trees and bushes. You could use a clear wrap over your paint if you don’t want to change the colour. i do know from using magnetic door signs that they will leave small scratches if any dirt or dust gets behind them. But it might not if you do the whole side. Good luck on whatever you do. B465BB09-928B-4554-A723-3A5D91ABEE1E.png

Look around for a sign/vinyl shop. The guys that make the magnetic business signs. THey should have it by the feet and you would just have to trim to what you are looking for.

Don't know of any, but then driving a full size truck on narrow Jeep trails just isn't worth it.

My options within a reasonable day trip is mostly narrow trails or no trails. I didn't buy the PW to mall crawl, but I also want to take reasonable care of it. You know, being stupid as smartly as possible.

Getting started. I made templates with kraft paper and am working my way forward. Once I get the passenger side done I'll use these pieces as templates for the driver's side. My son is going to paint them for me. I may cut the larger pieces in half to make installation easier once I've got the whole truck done, the big sheet in the back grabs quick and it took me a couple of tries to get it lined up right. The magnet is strong AF there's no twisting or moving it once it grabs.

The stuff at the sign shop lately peels back easily
I have had it peel off at 65 mph

The last set that i had made, i use painters tape to hold it on & it looks like crap

this was the magnetic sign from about 6 years ago
I could toss the sign at the trucks door from a foot away and it would adhere to the trucks paint

if i do that with the new stuff, the sign just touches the truck & slides off & hits the ground

The rule of thumb used to be
030 mil magnetic sheeting lasts 3 to 5 years outdoors with proper care and cleaning. It has a 90lb pull rating to keep it on your vehicle while you are driving down the road.

I bought 30 mil. It's strong, I've no doubt it would stay on at highway speeds unless you let it stick past a panel and wind got under it. However, I'm highly unlikely to be using it on the interstate. Maybe some secondary roads between trails at most.

So if I was doing it all over again, I'd:

Cut the rear doors longer so the flap covered the bit of the cab behind the doors. With the crease, a small piece doesn't stick very well. I have enough spare material I may recut these before the next outing.

Cut the section by the tail lights in half, which I'm going to do anyway. The pieces are too big and unwieldy as they are, making it hard to line them up good before they stick too much to wiggle.

Otherwise, I'm pretty happy with how they turned out and performed.
