Here I am at the Dealership for the correct drag link replacement.
Ha ha ha...
The office coordinator that Ram Corporate arranged the recall with didn't give the Service Manager any information and the Service Advisor tried to blow me off telling me the recall was complete.
I had to dig out my own references to get the Dealership to do their job.

Ram Dealerships really suck. They have pretty facilities and aren't competent. As so many members have noted, corporate doesn't have any kind of performance standards, or at least don't enforce them

@RamCares was very helpful and clear. That's where company performance ends. Thank goodness I'm a Forum member! You guys and gals have been more helpful than any forum I've been in.

Did they replace your drag link? Did they perform an alignment? I'm having this done next week hence my curiosity. Thx

i thought i was the only one to get blown off by my dealership. after ram cares called the dealership twice to confirm my drag link replacement i showed up for my appointment and the service manager told me outright he was not going to do it. i pulled out my case number and other documentation from ram cares and he would not even look at it. unreal how unprofessional that guy was.

You win the dealership a$$hole of the year.

At least when I confronted the Service Manager with my RamCares case number, he saw it in the dealership's computer and carried on.

Yesterday, I called Service Advisor to confirm appointment and part stock. Advisor confirmed appointment, then refused to look for inventory. In essence, he said that's not his job. Unfuching believable. I got the a$$ to transfer me to parts, they couldn't find any parts under my name. He found the part unassigned, and said he'd put my name on it to hold it. Have no idea if he did.

Any wonder we use private shops for non-warranty service? How do these a$$holes stay in business?

this is the same dealership that when i was trying to trade my 2000 dodge cummins in on a newer one they were way lowballing me on my trade telling me my truck was deleted and could not give me much money for it. i tried to explain a 2000 never had the emissions equipment that the newer trucks have now . i really wanted that truck as it had a new transmission and transfer case in it but after arguing for a minute or two we walked. went down the street and purchased the one i have now and am very pleased with it.

There are a number of quality dealers on here that treat people well. That's great for getting a new truck from anywhere, but not for service if they're hundreds of miles away.

Which is why I complained. We have no good service dealerships around here. They've all consolidated into megacorporate holdings.

Just curious did you go to Dodge in Burnsville, Jeff Belzer in Lakeview or one of the other Ram dealers in the MSP area?

120 mile round trip, no.

As for locale for service, my purchasing dealer is 60 mile round trip away, and I had to interrupt wife work to get me because they overscheduled and didn't classify the service as waiting in shop as I told RamCares.
That doesn't work for a megalopolis from one extreme xurb all the across to the other, including frequent inclement weather like today's, road construction, traffic jams.

Ram dealers do not suck, as a whole...Same goes for the dealers of other brands. What DOES SUCK is a combination of things: 1) Bad service managers that promote bad attitudes to their employees, resulting in bad service 2) Bad owners that create #1 and foster it 3) Well meaning dealership employees/people who don't communicate well, see #1 above 4) Moronic owners who can't comprehend instructions and or valid communications, or who expect to be taken to the front of the repair line because they complained loud enough to get their 1996, 500K mile rust-perforated, worn out piece of S&^%$ truck a warranty approval for a burned out tail light. I'll let you decide where ya fit.

Don't dismiss my experience. This is the 2nd of 2 dealerships in a major metropolitan U.S. region that's gone downhill.

Being a retired mechanical engineer, project manager, and product line manager, I know something of horrendous service when I encounter it. Speak to your own experiences.

Got the truck back. Looked underneath, yup, new drag link installed.

Drove down the highway, alignment perfect.
Good job, @RamCares
Didn't need all the dealership hassles, though. I didn't mention some of the other issues I had. And they never apologized for their own error. What a bunch of arrogant jerks.

Hello,

Thank you for that info. The v06 drag link does not cover any steering components related to the steering issue, beside for the alignment. Should there be any changes on this, we will make a post on it. We appreciate everyone's concern on this matter.

Whats crazy is, replacing the drag link has absolutely nothing to do with suddenly needing an alignment. Im very surprised they even offer to do that.

And don't put words into my mouth, speak your own. I don't care if you're a retired dishwasher...I ain't impressed by people who throw around "credentials". You obviously lack the ability to comprehend written words.

Keep holding your head high sir, and don't let the a$$holes increase your blood pressure. Completely NOT WORTH IT!

I, for one, really appreciate the comments and advise that you and many, many others give here (I won't mention any more names....).

I have learned an incredible amount from folks like you here on this forum that obviously have the education, training, background and life experiences that I do not have. So to you and the many others contributing their knowledge on this forum, THANK YOU!

And if for any reason I might disagree with anybody's advise found here I simply move on. No need to bash anybody. Just my way of doing things I guess.

It's fine. I've learned not to politely take crap anymore. Enabling spewers has allowed them to proliferate.
No more.
