I don’t know the history of the truck. don’t have any idea if the radio has been swapped out. XM , no signal, navigation maps stuck in Texas. sent radio to infotainment . that was after dealerships Said radio was bad. Need to replace. Have it back in the truck 6500AD2F-94C1-4017-89F9-DB6813439FA6.jpegthe same thing. my truck doesn’t have the pink plug-wire. could that be my problem possibly the wrong radio?

Does AM/FM work ?
Are you paying for XM radio ?

unless the GPS is not plugged in, the Nav can not know where it is

Did you take a pix of the top of the radio, while it was out ?

This may or may not be a radio for a truck like yours

Goto this website: https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing
Enter your truck's VIN number using all capital letters, this will give you the factory build sheet (how it left the factory).
The 8.4 radios came in one of two formats, the 8.4A which did not have navigation but could be unlocked with a code. The other radio was the 8.4AN, it came with navigation and HD radio which the other version did not.

The pink is for cellular antenna if you have the sharkfin. The mustard is GPS and SXM. It is likely that if the mustard plug is plugged in the antenna on your truck is bad (if you have no SXM and GPS). You can replace the the antenna for a GPS only one for about 10 bucks, but if you want SXM it's probably best to get a new OEM puck antenna.

The shark fin has two leads.the mustard and the purple.they have a jumper harness that goes from the antenna to the radio.the pink antenna if equipped is located in the dash behind the radio.i have seen a jumper cable go bad once.but more than likely like sitkneelbend said probably an antenna issiue.

I guess what I’m trying to say when I’m asking, will the radio operate and function without the pink wire. Radio has pink plug. The truck has no pink wire. Thanks in advance, Rich

Look very carefully, preferably with a magnifying glass, at the center pin on the mustard colored connector. The pin is very small and easily bent. It will short out against the metal outer portion of the connector and result in no signal. It is 50/50 on whether the pin will break when attempting to straighten it. I learned all of this the hard way. ;)

What the current SW version of the radio after InfoT did their 'magic'?

Pink (Dedicated GPS) input isn't usually needed for GPS...( Think Hawaii with no SXM option)

Violet/purple is cellular (part of puck antenna)

Green/mustard is SXM (part of puck antenna & also functions for GPS)

*************
Depending on your SW version (18.45.x is latest with GPS bug fix), you may have a bad puck antenna, bent connector pin as suggested, bad Sierra Wireless modem/gps card in the radio, or need the latest sw update

Yes,you don't need the pink plugged in for the radio to function.

Just wanted to follow up with an update. Have my navigation working correctly now. If I would have listened to several senior members here I would have had it working three weeks ago. Stealership told me the radio was bad. Sent it to infotainment and had it
rebuilt and they installed the latest update 18.45 and returned it to me. I put it back in the truck. The navigation was still stuck in TX. So here's where I got to say thanks to several members on here. SHOULD HAVE LOOKED AT THE DAMNED SHARK FIN. After I replaced it, everything is working good.
Thanks Ram brothers!
