Hi everyone…
I have recently inherited my dads truck as he was recently involved in a work accident. It is a 2013 ram 1500, and it has some issues.
He neglected it since he owned it and it’s been in the family since new. Went 10-13K on conventional oil on the 4.7L, (yet somehow still burns nothing..weird.) It also now has 154K on the odometer.
First, it has a weird stumbling issue where when it shifts into 4th after skipping 3rd it hesitates to accelerate and you can hear it. it’s a vr vr vr vr vr sound until it eventually shifts into 5th and then it continues into 5th. You can kinda see it on the tach. Does not happen in 6th while cruising.
Second, i’ve run several tests on it with the apps i have (OBD Jscan in particular) and while it says that the converter self test passed for both lockup, partial lockup, and full lockup, when it desires only 30 RPM slip the actual value fluctuates at around 20 to 130. There are no codes, and it also has a hesitation issue in 2nd gear as soon as it hits 4K RPM @ WOT. Feels like you let off the gas.
The trans was pulled in october of 2020 so we could easily replace the EGR valve, and when we did this and put the trans back in, a ground strap fell off from somewhere and we were never able to figure out where. It hasn’t driven like it did before since this happened, and it’s only recently started to get this bad.
Any help will be appreciated, sorry for the long post. Just wanted to be sure information was clear.
