After getting my 2500 last month, besides sorely missing the motorized running boards which were on my 2017 F-150 Platinum, I found I really needed a bed extender / divider that I could easily deploy or stow without removing, as needed.

I looked at the Mopar option but since I didn’t have a RamBox, and I didn’t want an aluminum cage in the rear, I test fitted my F-150 OEM stowable bed extender and the fit was nearly perfect. I just had to drill six holes of appropriate size and location.

It took about an hour and I was able to bolt it right in. As a plus, it fits under any rail topping tonneau like my Bakflip MX4.

This is what I installed.

2015-2020 Ford F-150 Black Truck Bed Extender Stowable Kit OEM FL3Z-99286A40-C. Had to get the plastic bushings separate as my prior set was came and went with the F-150.

For 2004-2008 Ford F-150 Truck Bed Extender Installation Mounting Hardware Kit. Didn’t need the bolts but did need to get two metric threaded nuts M10-1.5, two fender washers, and two lock washers.

Drilled six holes. Top and bottom were 3/4” and middle was 1/2”. Drilled a small pilot hole for each and then used a step-bit. Took no effort at all. Snapped in the bushings and bolted up the bed extender (not using the bolts in the install kit mentioned as they are not compatible. I used the bolts that come with the bed extender).
