Well today I checked and with key turned to crank position, clutch in I have no power. Next thing is to get the info on that relay and make sure it’s the right one. If anyone knows a part number or another one that would work - even a generic starter relay I’d be all ears. The only “part” left to replace is the ignition switch but that doesn’t make sense to me seems like it should still be allowing current to pass?

Well after further research my fusible links have been “bundled” and are a monstrosity. The ducks foot fitting with 5 wires is not there as it should and this is what I have

bump, so I’m going to do what everyone else has to do and delete my fusible links with a fuse block.

My question is: does anyone have a shop manual for an 85 that shows what each wire by color is for? I’m referring to the wires that come out of the ducks foot that I don’t have.

I think it's time to find a garage because you obviously are unable to follow the directions that I keep repeating over and over again.

Sorry, this just isn't your thing AFAIC.
Best of luck.

I’ve followed your direction but as I stated my fusible links were wire nutted together! The starter is new battery new relay new ignition switch is fine. Process of elimination not wasting my time running around with an ohm meter. This is not an unmolested og truck some kid messed up the underhood wiring and it’s amazing it even ran and started when I bought it 14 months ago ans didn’t catch fire. I think bc of your electrical background you over analyze things and over complicate them. I am replacing the entire underhood harness with a hood used one which includes the relay. Don’t get upset bc you think I’m blowing you off I’m not. But this thing is a mess! I appreciate your direction but also realize I am a bachelor who works a full time job and this is a procject truck and not my daily obviously.

I mean really the only power to anything is that single line from the battery as it is now. There are no damaged wires to/ from the starter? Not sure what good an ohm meter would do me at this point. It’s easy to arm chair quarterback something like this to someone you feel is incompetent. I didn’t volunteer to fix electrical gremlins on this it just presented itself. I’m not towing it to a shop that would just be folly and I’m not giving up on the damed thing!

Well I put new under hood harness in it and don’t have anything no lights gauges nothing. There was one cut fusible link on new/ old harness that I bypassed properly as has been shared many times. Battery is good the bulkhead plug is in there right. If I put a screwdriver across the starter terminals it sparks but doesn’t crank. I don’t have any power to the starter relay with KO. I have no clue and don’t know where to go from here.
