My 2020 1500 5.7 4x4 with 3.92 gears, gets 17-18 mpg around town, and 19.5-20 mpg Hwy. Running 74 mph max. I'm thinking the gear ratio around town helps get up to speed easier without needing much gas peddle. Plus I run tier 1 fuel only. Tier 1 fuel has 30% more fuel system cleaner in it versus standard grade cheap stuff. I'm using 87 octain only. Not recommended 89 ect. I read and seen demos on TV where you generally get more horse power from 87 versus 89 and 93 octain. They say octain is tied to anti-knock additives, not more horse power. High compression engines Run hard use higher octain to prevent pre-detination/knock ect. I don't horse my engine, but do pull a 4,000 lb. Boat occasionally. I get 12 mpg pulling boat in town/interstate at 60 to 65 mph. I have a bed cover as well. I try to time the lights through town. It takes 70% +/- more fuel to get started versus just cruising. I run standard size tires. Plus, in case you didn't know, when you go to buy tires, the weight of each manufacturer's tires weigh as much as 15 lbs. Difference. All this said play into my fuel economy. Plus I don't keep extra junk in the truck. Hope that helps a little.
