And you think Ford or GM dealer are going to be better? You want service down size and by an Acura or LEXUS and you will love red carpet service.

I think I'm done with Ram. I have a Ram 2500 diesel and really like the vehicle, the problem is my local dealer is a piece of work! I will never go to them again and this is the reason for my changing vehicles. I think it is about time I upgraded trucks. I've been wanting a 3500 and I'm looking at a Chevy with the duramax engine. I actually went to the dealer to look at a Ram 3500 while my 2500 was supposed to be in the shop, but the service writer got very smart with me and I just walked out.
I switched from a 2018 Ram 2500 to a Chevy 2022 Silverado 2500. Only reason was Ram dealer had no 2500 gas trucks at the time. Went across the street and there was only one gas 2500 Silverado and bought it on the spot. 32k on the clock and no problems.

I was (and still am) a Chevy/GMC fan, but when I wanted a 2500, the GM trucks with standard bed and crew cab are about 12" longer than my Ram 2500 Crew Cab, 6'4" bed. The Chevy/Gmc won't fit in my garage where the Ram squeezes in. Also, I wanted a gas engine and until the '24s came out, the GM 6.6L gas only came with a 6 speed transmission. Not to re-start the "how many gears do you need" flame wars, but I'm in the more is better camp. Before 24, Ram had 8, GM had 6. I'd go 2i5h duamax over Cummins for the same reason....if a Chevy would fit in my garage

I have had both Ford and Ram. The Ford diesel is an International/Navistar and they have been making diesels since Mobydick was a guppy but I drove a big rig for 20 years and mostly Cummins motors. I like the interior room of my Ram much better than the Ford. My Ram and my Ford have nearly identical horses but the Ram seems to pull better. The Ram is also quieter even though I have the 12 valve 5.9. It just seems to be better built.

No it isn't.

Ford stopped putting Navistar engines in their trucks at the end of 2010. In 2011, Ford switched to the 6.7. The 6.7 Powerstroke is Ford's design.

Navistar/International made 3 engines for Ford.
(1994-early 2003) - 7.3 Powerstroke (International T444E)
(late 2003-2007) - 6.0 Powerstroke (Navistar VT365)
(2008-2010) - 6.4 Powerstroke (Navistar Maxxforce 7)
2011 - current) - 6.7 Powerstroke (Ford Scorpion engine)

That said, after owning a variation of all 3 manufacturers, the Ram is far superior in terms of interior finish and comfort and the Cummins is a much more reliable and robust engine.

OP - go to Ford if you want but take it from me (a prior 20 year long Ford fan).... they will help you until you buy a truck. Good luck after that. Can't say much differently for GM.

My local FCA dealer is a joke. I will drive 100 miles out of my way to avoid them.... however, my Rams have spent 1/10th of the time at the dealer as the Ford and GM equivalents. YMMV.

Dealerships. Losing sight of taking care of existing customers is always bad ju-ju.

Wish my cell phone company would get a clue and treat existing customers in a more meaningful way.

If you want power and a rock solid drive train, no one does it better than Dodge and Cummins. No one. IMO, the next best option for me would be GM. Not because it is any better than Ford, but because they are the least expensive to maintain and buy parts for. Ford makes a great truck too, but you have to get the powerstroke. Their gas v8s are kind of weak. Even the coyote motors. Higher RPMs and small cubic inches do absolutly nothing for you when towing and should only be offered in the 150 IMO.
I mean the ram hemi doesn’t make leak power until like 3800 rpms +, not really low rpm power either.

Not true at all. Ford currently has the 2 most powerful gas engines you can buy in a truck, the 6.8 and the 7.3.

Can't speak for the 5.0, but the ecoboosts feel very strong, definitely stronger than the 5.7 hemi while towing. Turbos give you that grunt at lower rpms that N/A v8's can't match, the only downside being a tiny bit of turbo lag (and possibly reduced longevity vs a v8).

The 5.7 is still my choice of engine over the ecoboosts and 5.0, simply because I like the very linear feel of a v8 and the sound of course, and it's also the engine I'd bet lasting longest while being worked hard. But in terms of power output while towing, I don't think your argument holds.

I thought this would be the place to vent a little, but I guess not! Thanks to those who offered advice, but there isn't another Ram dealer in my city. To those who wanted to be smarta**, you can just shove your attitude!!!

Why don't you (OP), go back to the dealer and have a conversation with the owner/GM/Serv Mgr. Maybe all together. Try to create a better relationship, come to an understanding of the work performed. Rather than be passive aggressive about it. They want to keep customers ...you want good service. They can't do work for free or they'll go out of business eventually. So, now it's a matter of making the two sides see it each other's way and maybe they'll realize you were treated inappropriately and will find a way to work things out with you. If after a conversation you can't work with them, then you at least tried.

Like others have said, who's to say you're not going to have issues with Chev/Ford dealers? Either way, whatever you decide ..best of luck. :waytogo:

Nobody said "....go get a Toyota" so far??

Or did I miss it..
This one 2 replies before yours

As you know, A Lexus is a Toyota with lock washers.

Be realistic about this..... you have posted 11 times since you joined and the 10th-11th were to complain about how Ram sucks and you're switching brands on a Ram forum. Kinda had it coming.

As many others have said you should consider having a conversation with the dealership or finding another one. If I allowed my distaste of a dealership to muddle my opinion of an entire brand of vehicle I would be walking. There are bad dealers in every brand. Manufacturers don't control the dealerships and have zilch to say in how they run their business.

If you think the dealer is stalking these forums and waiting on someone to call them out you'd be mistaken. If you have a problem with the dealer the only ones who can solve that are you and the dealer.

I'm sure you'll find bad dealers regardless of brand. The last two Chevrolets I had to deal with made my MG Midget look like an A+ in reliability, and the times I had to take them to the dealers for known issues the dealers pretend they don't know anything about the problems. Add to that they do everything they can to avoid fixing them, do half-baked repairs, and their technicians couldn't diagnose a flat tire.
