Stuck in Mexico - What now?

Hello everyone. New to the site and this is my first post. I have always been a Dodge car and Ford truck guy. I decided to switch to the RAM for 2023 primarily due to the Cummins engine.

My 3500 Longhorn Limited was ordered on 10/29/22 and built on 2/8/23 with a scheduled delivery of March 25, 2023. As the date arrived it was switched to TBD. I was told it was due to the 13A recall issued on 2/9/23. I am still at a TBD delivery for the truck and am told the parts department at my dealer has had the parts for this recall for weeks now.

As I searched the forum it became evident that nothing comes out of Mexico quickly as there are many threads on this topic. Hail damage, added trucking demands, cartel, etc. are just some of the reasons.

My dealer tells me other Cummins powered trucks built after mine have been delivered which leads me to believe something else is holding up delivery besides the 13A recall. I heard yesterday at the dealership it may have something to do with the LED headlights?

Is anyone else experiencing this same delay of delivery?

Sorry to hear of the problems. The what now answer is either wait or cancel and get one from the lot. In the end, each truck is different and how long it takes to resolve is really just anyone's guess.

There are something like 4 recalls for Ram trucks with the Cummins engines

Dealerships can not sell a vehicle with any recall pending

So if the Ram is in the dealers inventory, they have to wait for the parts(s) to arrive.

Ram Headquarters knows that a supplier can deliver X amount of parts a week.
They in turn have to divvy the parts out to the dealerships.
One of the recalls is currently being divvied out at the rate of ONE part a week to each dealership & right now 2023 Rams are receiving them first, the 2022s will receive them next.

Now if they have not left Saltillo Mexico yet, the recalls will get done before the trucks are loaded onto the trains

The recall will be better done in Mexico. So I hope that is the case for you. Be patient.

Thank you for the replies. I have been keeping an eye on our local Ford dealer inventory for an F350 or F450. I do not plan to cancel the RAM but do let my dealership know I am looking.

RAM informed me the 13A recall would be performed by my dealer. See attached email. This is why I ask if there is something else holding these trucks up? As several have said above, I may just need to be patient.

The good news is that all these recalls have a fix, and the parts are availible. Now getting it shipped is another story.

Was not from Mexico but when my truck arrived at dealership my delivery date was in TBD status, but it changed multiple times for the better before that (date kept getting sooner)

Nice choice on truck! That's what I'll be picking up as retirement nears for pulling a toy hauler and hitting the road. As for when it will ship.... only once they have a full train load, they are not shipped individually.

I like how you think! We retired last year and started to travel the country with our hauler. While our 2004 F350 has served us well, it just doesn't have enough **** to comfortably move our rig.

Our first trip this year is in a few weeks and the Ford will get the job done as usual. I figure one day out of the blue my dealer will call and say "Your truck is here". I have seen several YouTube review videos with 2023 Cummins 3500 built before and after mine. My dealer has also received several 2023 Cummins built after mine. I really wonder what the delivery process is?

The waiting continues....

Wow, you really go all out. Wooden swing, metal table & chairs, big grill, mulch, plants, gravel, etc. What does all that do to gross trailer and pin weight?

Phew. I thought you were on a trip in Mexico and got stuck there. This, while not pleasant is (maybe?!!) a bit more pleasant, depending just where you might have theoretically bee stuck...

I ordered February 2022.
Truck was built July 2022.
Truck sat in Mexico until December 2022.
Showed up at Koons in VA late February 2023.
Truck has 4 miles on it.
It sits waiting at the dealership for the recall to be done.
I haven't even seen the truck yet. When I stopped by back in March they said it was at their other lot.
The dealership could careless.
I really wanted to look this truck over real good after sitting in the desert for 6 months.
We are at the point of walking away and losing our deposit.
Ram decided to do all the 2023s before the 2022.
Ram care has given me 8 free oil changes for our long wait. I really wanted a free extended warranty. They keep saying contact the dealership.
And thanks for you're patience.

You should not lose your deposit. While I have not yet(!) been in a similar situation, it has always been very clear in any special order situation that a deposit is only to give you first right of refusal for a specific vehicle. It DOES NOT obligate you to purchase said vehicle.

Now, maybe someone with more experience, or an actual legal degree, can shed more light, but I'm quite certain that for transactions such of this that if you did not receive goods you are not liable for any costs.

If they give you a really hard time, and hopefully you paid by CC, dispute it with your CC company.

@Kingland. Wow, that is unreal. I have nothing to complain about after reading your experience with RAM. There is something broken in the shipping process. Please hit this post when you finally get the truck.

This is the history of my Ram order, built in Saltillo. Arrived at the Dealer in El Paso, TX on Nov-18-2022, picked it up on the 19th.

Every agreement is different. The dealerships absolutely can make the deposit non-refundable, and will have you sign a document to that effect. That was certainly the case when I ordered my Ram from Granger last year. They made that very clear verbally and in writing.

I feel your pain. My 2022 sat in Mexico for 8 months before showing up at dealer. It's a gasser and had no recalls. Just a poor transport system. Good luck.

Just updating this thread. Still no truck. Entries in the Saltillo yard log were updated with an entry for hail damage on April 13 with this being resolved on May 15. Multiple entries of the truck moving within the yard.

IF it ever shows up, I will be curious how many miles it will have on it. And, what sort of repairs have been done.
