Can someone please tell me what's the best plug and play options for replacement 6x9 speakers in a 2017 Ram with the Alpine option. I don't want to replace the radio or the Amp I just want better quality 6x9 speakers. I've tried 2 different kind already and they didn't even sound better then the factory speakers. Just in case you were wondering... The first ones I tried were the powerbass OE-692T and then the jbl gx9628. All did not give me any more bass and very little extra highs. Can anyone help with this or is it a lost cause.

IMO I don't think you're likely to ever be satisfied with simply a replacement. Keep in mind the factory alpine system and amp are crossed over at various frequencies. The front doors don't get much in the way of highs or low lows. They are X'd over to handle your mids. I don't believe any of the speakers in the alpine setup get a full frequency signal...maybe the rear doors do, it's been awhile since I did my audio build. Only way to take full advantage of aftermarkets is to go beyond a simple replacement. Some improvement can be had with the dash speakers though; if you want your highs to be brighter.

Kicker 3.5” for the dash.
Kicker 6x9” for the doors.
Anything is an improvement over stock for the dash.
However, until you get an aftermarket headunit you won’t be able to fully utilize any upgrades speakers.

I agree 100% with ^^

If all you want to do is improve general sound quality with a bit of volume boost, and still maintain all the factory other stuff...

I recommend Focal speakers. High fidelity, crisp & clean detailed sound & pretty much plug and play.

I started my audio upgrades with just replacing the stock six speakers (dash/front door/rear door) with these new Focal speakers.

Right off the bat the sound quality was incredible and the volume was slightly increased. But more so the detail in music was so much more. And even with the stock system turned all the way up these speakers didn't waff out or lose their clarity and detail.

Then, amping them up and including a sub with a better head unit...well... a whole other story altogether.

But, if you just want replacements I recommend you do the dash and the front & rears.
The fronts (dash & doors) are 2-way, and the rears are three way.

I am about to do a very similar update to my system (2017 2500 w/upgraded Alpine speakers)... I have a new head unit (KENWOOD DMX1057XR) installed already and have REALLY enjoyed the massive jump in sound quality. Onto phase 2!

I'm having my installer do the following:
- Keep the factory amp pushing all of the factory speakers EXCEPT the sub.
- Introduce a new amp: AudioControl LC-5.1300 -- and will ONLY be hooking up the new subwoofer to this amp (for now)
- Upgraded subwoofer (in factory enclosure -- treated with NVX sound dampening / polyfil): 8" Audiomobile EVO 2408 (...we plan to run this sub at 2ohm / 500w RMS)
- Sound dampening along the back wall of the cab / all 4 doors

I am going to look into the speakers you have in your picture there as I am already looking forward --> Phase 3 (upgrade the rest of the speakers and get rid of the factory amp!)

Sounds like it's going to be a great system... lol.. ;)

The Focal speakers are excellent and provide really great detailed sound. With the Kenwood head unit you can really dial in the sound with their huge equalizer, the filtering functions and crossover options, too.

I can put my new system up to 31 volume and it's more than I can handle. But, the speakers don't waff out or get all tinny and distorted.

The shop I got everything done at really took their time in asking me what kind of sound I preferred, and then said Focal was the speaker for me. They even said that if I didn't like them that they would replace them with a speaker of my choice for no extra charge.

The Audiomobile sub is absolutely fantastic!. I had my 10" put into a custom sealed box and they stuffed the box with polyfil (also at 2ohm), and all my doors plastered with sound mat.

Enjoy the upgrades!

Awesome sauce! I was going to go the custom enclosure route for the sub so I could stuff a bigger one in there… but I really didn’t want to lose the factory foldout floor(s) as they’ve already really come in handy!

Down the road I may figure out a way to stuff bigger subs back there — but for now I’m actually REALLY enjoying the thump I get from this bone stock factory system…. So I figured a little more thump and more clarity in the cabin speakers would be a great start!

Kicker dash and front and rear doors. I needed to add resistors to dash speakers to adjust the ohms properly. Was pretty easy. Needed 1/4 inch spacers for the doors. Sound was night and day.

CDT far better than the Focal spears I had in my Pilot. In the front doors they add some depth but are limited by the Alpine system. I had read getting coaxial for the rear was a waste of money but they fill in the sound arena very nicely. Far better than stock. Have fun with your upgrade. The Infinity Reference 3032s are good for vocal but have a closed in sound on upper instruments like a violin. The CDT Unity 7.5 gives a fuller spectrum of sound and allow the full complement of range for orchestrated music.

Thanks for responding. Is this considered a noticeable upgrade over the Alpine speakers I already have? Will I be able to tell the difference?

I changed all mine out to Infinity Reference 9633’s in all 4 doors and Infinity Rererence 3.5” dash speakers. Improved highs and mids greatly. Order from Crutchfield and you get the plug and play adapters included.

Your best bet is to run your details through Crutchfield as they will instantly tell you what fits and what doesn't, recommend what tools are required for the job, recommend anything you have missing and as a bonus they tend to throw in factory connectors when you buy speakers and the installation instructions when you buy a head unit or associated install parts. Plus you can call and ask their experts questions as they have an enormous database of info.

I would suggest another resource to you for you to get an idea of what is possible. RAM changes lots of things or almost nothing depending on the section of the truck as you move from one generation to the next. So this 2021 install will not match exactly to you 2017 but you will get the gist of things and you can cherry pick what you find useful. They have more than one video you should watch.

Well old school here. Threw out everything that was stock. Added a Alpine CDE 149BT with Alpine KTA 450 and a pair. Pioneer 3.5 TSA 879 in dash 4 Cerwin Vega v469's in doors. All doors were sound proofed . Also was going to remove jump seat bottom tray and build sub box. Box dedicated true 50 w a channel and CV 6x9's is plenty for me. The Alpine head unit put out high volume low distortion power.
