Does anyone know of a tuner or reprogramming that can adjust when the cooling fan and grill shutters come on? I want to lower the temp as the factory setting is pretty high IMO. 5th gen 2020 1500DT

If you can't find tuner to do so then its time to remove a few of the shutters for more air flow top the radiator...

You'll need an unlocked PCM and the bypass cable to use a tuner on it to adjust the fan setting. Not cheap to do.You can throw a 190 thermostat in with no issues, you could even drop down to a 180 thermostat, but a 190 is a good middle of the road thermostat.

At what temp does your fan cycle on? The fan in your truck is variable speed so should be running low speed and ramp up as needed. But I’m just guessing on that as I have no clue how they programmed it. You can remove a few slats as @Wild one said. And lowering to a 190° tstat is a nice touch but given the full electric fan setup you will be limited by the stock programming for cooling. Can you Do me a favor and actually try to catch when the fan turns on and if it runs slow speed and ramps up or just goes straight on and off as I’m really curious how they programmed the function in the new trucks. I have a modified setup in my 4th gen to run the same fan you have and they are really strong fans. You can contact a tuner about adjusting fan temps but will need an unlocked pcm and tuning device to do that. Hp tuners is widely recommended. I’ve had no issues with Diablo but your needs will be based on whatever person you tune with.

The fan does ramp up speed as the temp rises, I'm not sure about the shutters, they may just open up completely anytime the fan is on. The AC condenser is also behind the shutters and I think their late opening effects the ac temps very negatively.

@crazykid1994 My truck is a 2022, 5th gen. During this last winter on a few occasions I was concerned about the temps as well, I found that because the A/C was off, the fan was off, or so low that you could not hear it running. The dash would show 225-230 deg before the fan would spin up and start to cool the engine. I was concerned that something was wrong the fist times it happened, asked someone on here and they said that was the factory programming to let it get that warm. If you turn the A/C on, the grill shutters are supposed to be open and fan running, the fan speed does vary based on A/C load and engine temp.

The factory wants the engine to run as hot as possible. Why, you may (should) ask? It lowers emissions. That's the ONLY reason. It's programmed singularly to satisfy CAFE. Those visiting a performance related forum such as this may be shocked (SHOCKED!!! I tell you!!) that the majority in this country are more concerned about efficiency than performance.

Performance is a negative delta with MPG (with VERY rare exceptions, before someone jumps down my throat).

Bottom line - if you want MPG get a Prius.
