The basic warranty is over on my new to me 2021 Ram 2500. Looking for suggestions for used warranty coverage. Looked at MAX Care. Is there any where else that I should try ? Thanks.

Replacing my old 98.5 for something more comfortable in my retirement years.

Did you have one on you 95’ previously?

if so, how often did you use it?

These are pretty solid truck and can run great for many many years provided normal and preventative maintenance is kept up with :waytogo:

If you want a warranty, shop around to third part ones as well. It is all about the coverage and exclusions. If you buy for price first, you might be in the proverbial "get what you pay for" world when you need something. There are a number of great companies that allow repairs wherever you want.

Meanwhile, you could take that money and just out it in an account and if something happens, you got your money for repairs. Odds are in favor of warranty company not paying out what you pay in. Just a fact of the business model.

Good luck.

Make sure the balance of any factory warranty is put in your name.

Also depending on your auto insurance, I think there are a couple that offer breakdown insurance as an addon on your auto insurance policy.

If going with Maxcare, shop around as it can be bought online much cheaper than most dealers will offer it.
IF going Maxcare, confirm that your truck was originally sold in the US, trucks originally sold in Canada and brought to the US are not eligible for coverage.

Congrats on the new truck!

Do extended warranties even work? I personally thought of them as scams. ???
As long as they warranty company doesn't go belly up they can work. Some are better than others.
Most phone spam calls selling them might just be scams trying to get your info.

But as people are keeping their vehicles longer and as the vehicles get more integrated technology as standard equipment, extended service contracts can help limit your out of pocket costs.

It's basically a shared risk thing, if you don't use it they win, if you lose a major component you win.

Just the radio alone is around $1500.

My advice is to only buy a Mopar Maxcare extended warranty. I shop 6-7 discounters and here are the top four on my list.

1 - Tom Winkels, Hayes Jeep, 269-385-1116,
2 - Victor Riedman, Mopar MaxCare, 765-222-1356,
3 - Joe Topor, Chrysler Warrantys, 888-918-9840,
4 - Jason Edmundson, Chrysler Warranty Direct, 517-662-0400

Buy before your existing runs out as your truck will automatically qualify. Otherwise, it has to be inspected.

I did not think that the Mopar extended warranty, could be bought if the Factory Bumper to Bumper had expired.

My Mopar Extended Warranty just expired in January

I would like to have that warranty cushion back again,
maybe i should go have a talk with the warranty guy at Dodge

.........................................................................

Endurance is one of the top 3 party warranty companies

Car Shield is not allowed to operate in California, they say that during the application process, they messed up their paperwork & it was refused by California

If you do decide to use a third party warranty,
read the customer reviews

I worked for Mopar for 20 years and bought their service contracts whenever I needed one. I saw too many off brand contracts refuse to fix someone's car. They often came up with some reason "it's not covered" or "it's your fault it's broken". Mopar contracts usually have a higher deductible but I can live with that. If you decide on an after market contract check their record for customer satisfaction very carefully.

I don't know about now but 4 of my cars were used when I bought the service contracts. On 1 of the cars they replaced the engine, AC compressor, struts and a bunch of other stuff.

I'm in the "go for it" camp. I spent $1500 on an extended warranty (Ziegler) and used it for my %#! failed four corner air system. I would have spent $2k out of pocket for the repair so I'm happy.

See my post #13 and give Tom Winkles a call. He's very experienced, knowledgeable, and helpful. He does not work weekends.
