I have a 2017 RAM with Projector low beams.
The factory bulbs are not very bright to say the least...

Looking to replace with LED upgrades... I cant see very well at night so looking for brighter lights recomendations.

Go HID for low beams in the projector. LED high beams. Check Amazon. Hikari & Farren or Sealights are good brands.

Do you have the quads or projector headlights?
There is a simple halogen upgrade that will do wonders with the quads.

Here are your bulb sizes incase you need them without removing the lights..
9005 is the size for high beam.
9012 is the size for low beam.
9006 is the size for fog lights.

I recently did a side by side comparison in my 2017 2500 w/projectors -- in case you wanted to see the difference... (hint, the high quality LED's were a clear loser when put up against a high quality HID setup :waytogo:)

He said projector low beams, factory bulbs. Which upgrade are you talking about?
Duh, I missed that lol.

The following do need minor modifications on the bulb but it is easy to do.
For Quads
H9 bulbs in place of the H11 for the low beam on quads.
Philips 9011 high beams to replace the stock 9005s

For Projectors
"9011's will work on the lowbeam for the 2016+ but for the 2013-2015 years the 9012's are as good as it gets. There is not much difference between the 9012/9011 for lumens. "The wattage goes from 60 to 65 but the lumens go from about 1850 to about 2350 per lamp."
New bulbs can make an improvement still.
However, on all years you can replace the 9005's with 9011's which is a massive improvement."

The right leds aren't bad and super easy to install vs hid, those morimoto leds you tried are one of the worst ones for projectors, just have to find the thinnest between the chips. My lumibrites were great until they started to fade after 2 years, i now have the new hikari 2023's to try.
All the hid kits I tried were 35w or 45w and idk they just weren't bright enough for me.
Next it will be anzo, made in Taiwan vs the others from China, so maybe better quality control

Hmmmm, wellllllll -- I've _certainly_ done my due diligence by spending the time to investigate (as best I could online - YouTube, forums) what light output looked best to MY eye! Which reminds me... what looks good to one could look like a bag of assholes to the next person... lol!

After many, many, many hours of research - I ended up with the Morimoto's because of this Headlight Revolution video. Got them ordered up and installed and was NOT impressed with the light output on the ground (leading up to the "hot-spot"). I guess I could have spent tons more money trying to figure it out but I figured I'd use the work that others had already done on the subject (trial and error). You are literally the first and only person I've seen that says that the Morimoto's are one of the worst choice(s) for my specific projector housing... It has been quite the opposite from what I've read -- but, I've been wrong before and am not too proud to admit it again... hahaha!

As far as what I ended up with -- the GTR Ultra HID (Projector Low-beam) 55w / 6000k: The installation was a breeze -- my 13 year old son (who I'm starting to teach to work on his own stuff!) installed one side as I was installing the other... lol. We simply zip tied the ballast to the supports inside of the headlight pocket... but -- potato / po-tat-oe.

After all was said and done tho -- I drove around for about 2 weeks with the Morimoto LED's and kept reaching for the headlight switch to make sure they were on (I kid you not!) so I called up Headlight Revolution and exchanged them for the GTR HID's and installed those and was blown away by the difference! What I found was that my eye is getting to be like a crusty, old butt-hole and needed to see the light on the ground not just at the hotspot. So the HID's fit the bill hands down over the LED's.

Also, as a side note for anyone else reading this post in the future...
I installed the Diode Dynamics SS3 LED Fog Light Kit (White (without backlight) SAE Fog Max) and IMO -- this was the biggest WOW factor for light output "upgrade"... I can probably ride around with JUST my fogs on (and no -- they aren't blinding everyone, I aim my headlights properly!)
Cheers gents!

I didnt like the color the ddm dc ballasts gave my 5500kv bulbs, the 45w hylux ballast was much better.
I used bulbfacts reviews. Was all set to go hid again and i saw they reviewed these new hikaris, under 100 bucks i said ill try them!

And heres the 3.0 test they did

Ah, I wish that that article had been published BEFORE I bought mine and tested them out in my truck! LoL... just my luck.

What I find interesting in most ALL of these types of tests tho is that they usually only focus on testing the hot-spots and beam patterns.... NOT the ground leading up to the hot-spot!

Anywho -- I'm glad that you were able to find what works best for you!

I had a 2015 tried to go Led. Disaster. Now in 2023 they may work better. But I traded my truck while on a trip because my LEDs kept having problems
