We have a 2020 Power Wagon that we changed the tires on in order to have tires we liked better. These new tires are rated for a tire pressure of 50 pounds. Evidently the factory settings in the tire sensors are for 65 pounds. We put new wheels on also, so we put in brand new Mopar tire sensors. They read correctly, BUT the dashboard info keeps throwing up an error of low tire pressure, because these tires are kept at 50 pounds. We took it to the dealer who told us that the Power Wagon tire pressure computer entry could not be changed, and that for the rest of the truck's life, it will now show that error on every start, and keep that stupid "exclamation" icon on the dash forever. Is this true? Is there no way to reprogram the computer to accept the correct pressure for a different type of tire? There are HUNDREDS of options for tires out there. I find it really hard to believe that this thing cannot be reprogrammed for this!

Dealer won't change TPMS limits, even though they can. You can get AlphaObd $49, a OBD MX+ Bluethooth reader $130 and a cable form Koadtech, $55, and change the limitws yourself. I just got done doing it. If you can find someone with the reader and AlphaOBd, all you would need to buy is the Security Bypass cable.

AlphOBD also allows you to change a ton of other stuff. Have a read through the AlphaObd threads.

And something that can't be overstated with using AlphaOBD, copy and save your current configuration before making any changes.

There have been more than a few users who get a big surprise after they've made a simple change. At least if you have a copy of your last known good configuration, you will always have a bailout option.

Thank you!

You're most welcome.

AlphaOBD has the ability to modify many of the OEM settings and configure them to your preference.

I plan to buy it in the near future to customize a few things. It's available for Android and Windows.

If you use Apple, I believe Jscan will adjust wheel size and TPMS minimum settings too.

Shop around for the bypass cable & bluetooth dongle and you might save a few $.

What said above. I would say look at the z-automotive bypass module. It works great and is easy to install and remove.
Cost little more, but those 'cables' are pain in the ass to install and remove.

As @RamDiver said above. Copy and/or take screen shots before you change anything. many people don't and then ask how to fix issues later.

Jscan app. $20
OBD dongle $20
Security cable $15
It works on Apple iPhone and the folks on here say alpha only works on android. So it just depends on which platform your a fan of.

Might want to read up on the z bypass. I looked into them in detail and they are mounted behind the radio, so fair amount of work to get at the plug. It must be removed for the dealer to access the obd port and installing it is no easier than installing the cables. Good thing with the cables, like the one from kaodtech, is you never have to take them out. Just unplug it from the obd port and tuck it up out of the way. If you follow the temporary install instructions it is really quite easy to install and then leave in place.

Yes, the perimeters for the tpms can be reprogrammed.

Also, im not sure what tires you are running but 50psi is most likely a little on the high side, at least for the rear tires. Just because they have a max psi rating dosnt mean you have to inflate it to that.

I have 5th Gen, not sure that matters. but it's not behind the radio. It's in same place as cable, next odb port.

I don't need to read about it. I have both cable, module from them, and from others.

I'm curious about your stating the bypass cable doesn't require to be removed before visiting the dealership, maybe my truck is different.

I have a '21 Classic, AFAIK, the bypass cable has to be connected to the SGW located behind the radio, and must be removed for the dealership to use the OBDii port.

Am I mistaken?

RD Depends on the cable. Mine, there are two pigtails that go into the Canbus and then a connector to the OBD port and another OBD connector to put the MX+ on. By diconnecting the one that goes to the factory OBD port I have effectively removed any impediment to the dealer using the OBD port. That was why I picked the Kaodtech cable versus the other versions that pug into the actual security module behind the radio.

Left is block 1, right is block 2
Plug the leads of the security module bypass into the CAN blocks.

Lead with Green Connector
Plug into Block [2]
Lead with White Connector
Plug into Block [1] RAM 2500+
Lead Labeled White/Green
Plug into White/Green Block [2]

Plug into Black/Green Block [1]
Note: If you are having difficulties accessing the CAN connectors, it is possible to remove the headlamp switch to gain better access to the connectors
5. Locate the OBD-II Connector [3].
Temporary Install
Plug the female end of the bypass harness into the factory OBD-II Connector. The bypass in now ready to use.
Permanent Install
Remove the factory OBD-II Connector by squeezing the two tabs on the backside of the connector and pulling it out of the mount.
Plug the female end of the bypass harness into the factory OBD-II Connector.
Insert the Male plug of the bypass harness into the factory mount.

Thanks, I plan to give this info a serious review and if this bypass cable allows me the option to just unplug 1 connector, that sounds great.

And no screwing around pulling out the dash and radio sounds much preferred too.

This is the link to his site. He is a member on here. The install instructions are PDFs you can access on the site. Just to be sure I am right, I have emailed him about what removing the bypass for Dealer Service exactly means. I can't see needing to remove the two pigtails that go into the Can Blocks, as long as the harness isn't plugged into the OBD port, but I have been wrong before.

I have the Kaodtech, too. In fact, I keep the two single cables plugged into the blocks, but keep the actual OBD plug disconnected and tucked behind the cabling. So it's "inactive" all the time, and when I do need to change something with AlfaOBD I just plug it into the ODB port and the Bluetooth device into the other end.

I’m using JScan on my truck. You can change the tpms settings with it but so far I have not been able to turn the light off. I can change the minimum pressure to what I want and it will not alert the evic with a message of low tire pressure but the light still comes on.

So, it fixes the low-pressure alarm but still shows a generic TPMS warning light?

That's bizarre but thanks for the warning.

Yeah can’t figure it out. Over on the hd ram forum a member said he was able to get his to shut off but I haven’t had the same luck yet. But will keep playing around with it to see what I can do

The use of the security bypass cable affecting dealer repairs varies with the dealer. I have a 2018 with Kaodtech cable which I leave permanently installed. Been to the dealer several times including having a delaminated radio replaced under warranty with the cable installed. Dealer never said a word about it.

The very easiest and cheapest way is using ProCal Snap from AEV. The installation is simple as well.
