Brace yourself, lubricant choices are a religious topic so the best way to know less about the topic than you did when you started is to ask about lubricants on a forum.

The coolant in another whole can of worms and another thread I have on here....I am locked in the "what the hell kind of coolant do I have" thing. What's in the truck now is pink...no mistaking it's pink. That would lead you to think it's HOAT, but apparently 2013 was the ones year that OAT was pink, prior to be changed to purple, so it could be pink OAT. 2013 was alos the year they switched to OAT and some vehicles went out with HOAT before the full change over to OAT....so I could still have pink HOAT....or I could have pink OAT in it. The dealer ran my VIN and said it shows I have OAT, but the dealer has never seen or heard of pink OAT and had no answer for me as to why my coolant was pink when the VIN specs OAT. One of the 30+yr techs at the dealer said no doubt was I had in mine was HOAT as he's never ever seen pink OAT in anything....but also had never heard about the change over possibilities that I listed above that took place in 2013......so basically, no idea what the hell is in my truck. So when I do get around to changing it, I'll do a full flush and use Peak Global Life to be safe.
There was a change and it affected my 2014 as well.

The coolant change is suppose to be predicated on some cooling system materials change, so I guess I would be guided by what is recommended according to the VIN. Whatever the case, I think the important thing is to make sure as much of the old coolant is flushed out of the system. There may be compatibility issues with cross-breeding coolant types.

Dusty

Can't believe an Amsoil dealer hasn't testified yet.
I'm not sure who you may be referring to, but if so it's a sign of high ethical standards.

My manual shows the spec for my rear diff spec for 1500 models is 75w-140 and front 4WD specs 75w-90. I was gonna put the 90 in both, do I really need the 140 if I never tow and only lightly haul stuff periodically?

Manual also says only the 44-44 xfer case needs Mopar xfer case fluid. All others spec ATF+4. I already bought the Mopar xfer case fluid....that stuff aint cheap!! Like $32 a quart.

No. Only loads above half tow capacity.

Interestingly, my heavy duty with huge axle (11.25 inch diameter ring gear!) doesn't call for 140 either except heavy loads.
It's like telling you to run max tire inflation all the time so you don't forget to air up if loading to max capacity.
Manufacturers trying to indemnify themselves from lawsuits by stupid people.

Congrats on the Tk. With a 2013 in NY, I'd be more worried about Rust, than boutique 'perfect' fluids. Take some preventative rust measures this summer or that's what your tk will start to look like. I'm seeing more early 4th gen Rams looking like a mess around here, including my buddy's Ram which same year as yours. Its a very nice truck, well taken care of, lot of life left. But the rocker panels, cab corners and rear wheelwells are beginning to rust out. Seriously.

Yeah I will probably just throw 75w-90 in it, no idea why they spec 140 for a 1500.

Any quick way to tell if I have a LSD?

Dealer service dept can print you out a new copy if you don't have one. I think there's a site online you can print out the options. Maybe someone here knows the link.

Amsoil lubricant almost trashed my 8spd. Amsoil can pound sand. MLM oil.
