Hope I’m not hijacking this thread, if so I can make a new one. I don’t need the added power of a long tubes/the added price isn’t practical. I have a 2009 1500 with 5.7 with broken manifold bolts. I just started looking but I saw these on summit real cheap, anyone know if there good or can tell me anything about them? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/...zecXHw6NtW7P7FUkfTIvwtCUWut_z9DZJCvI#overview
BBK's rep isn't real good, they're famous for cracking the welds at the flange

Is it something I could have reinforced before installing by a welder? And/or welded back together later if they do crack. I have a welder friend, I might be willing to take a risk for that price.

I suppose you could beef up the welds, but i'm not gonna make any comments about whether that would be a long lifed fix. You can buy ebay long tubes for about the same price and they have a better rep then BBK's shorties do,plus give you more bottem end torque then shorties do.Generally in a truck you want as much off idle torque as you can get,and that's where a set of long tubes shine in comparision to shorties.

As I understand it based on the above in this thread though, I would need a custom tune and completely new exhaust for long tubes? And then maybe a 6.4 intake to take full advantage, and then it just becomes a real slippery slope… but it might not be as bad as I’m thinking, I’ve never looked into tune or exhaust prices just assumed it’s substantial $$. Really appreciate your insights btw.

You can run long tubes with-out a tune, but you won't get all their benefits, but they'll still be better then shorties with-out a tune.
In your case as it sounds like budget means a fair bit ,why not pull the stock manifolds off,and run them over a belt sander till the flange is fairly flat again, and bolt the stock manifolds back on with new bolts and Remflex 6022 gaskets

Long tubes without a tune sounds like a reasonable option then, and I can get a tune later on still. Would you by chance have a link to the eBay long tubes you mentioned?

If I’m going to deal with getting the broken bolts out I’d like to upgrade them at least bit while I’m at it. I’m not tight on cash but I’d like to keep it that way and not turn this truck into a money pit lol.

Leave it stock if you don't want it to be a money pit.
