Hi all, I had purchased this for a motorcycle, but I think it would fare better being used on the truck. It's a surprisingly decently built unit and so I'd like it to run my add on electronics and such. Dash cam, lights, 12V outlets, and so on.

Here's the link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07Q26Y8H1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Where should I mount it? I popped open the hood and stared at it for about 15 minutes today. The best opportunity I see is right at the firewall on the drivers side...but I dont particularly want to block off the grommet where I'd be running stuff into the cab. Thoughts here?

I wish I could have the stupid factory aux switch bar....grr.

I have different setup than that, but where to mount I do have a location that worked out well.

I had some 3/4" cutting board material ( marine board same stuff ) and custom cut it to fit on drivers side near firewall, but the face of it facing towards the other side of the truck. Screw holes at that thickness can be counter sunk. Leaving a nice mounting location. You'll have to play with it to see how well the cover would come off and how easy to see in it. But will end up being far left of the grommet opening that you can then put a boot on it if not already done so.

Thanks! Really didn't want to blindly drill a hole in the firewall. Also, use the clutch blank to route the leads from the cab through the firewall. Its plastic, held in with two nuts and can take a 1 1/4" hole.

I replaced the switch panel in the bottom of the center console with the factory Aux switch panel.

Not really sure what the procedure for replacing the Aux switches on the newer trucks.

Apparently, on my 2019 unit, it requires a specific BCM and special flash on the ECM, neither of which I have. Then of course the 350 dollar switch panel for the console. 89 bucks was a better choice. Ford really has them beat on this.

The 4th gen panel for my truck was around $110 and then I used AlfaOBD to update the computers.

I did a ton of research on it. Supposedly, from what I found, 2019 was an oddball year. You had to have a specific BCM to take the programming to enable the switch panel. Then of course, the panel itself is like 400 bucks.....so, I dont really care that much. It would be nice to have it ready to go, but saving a ton of money is perfectly fine for me accepting the little switch panel as it is stuck onto my console panel.
