is there a message in the dash when regening?

Hi,

I have a 2015 EcoDiesel that is now at about 125,000 miles. Just had the DPF filter clog and have to go to the dealer to get it remedied. They could not come up with a reason why it did that, though. (Interestingly, Chrysler paid for the fix under warranty of some kind!).

I have an auxiliary digital gauge cluster that tells me a few things, including the soot percentage and the EGR temp. It also tells me when it's doing a regen, and I make sure to keep the truck running until that is over.

However, I never see anything on the main dash about the regen, but I could swear I read something in the quickstart guide about there being a message in the dash / EVIC when a regen is underway. I do not have the full manual DVD, it did not come with the truck when I got it.

Is there something in the dash that I need to find? Be on a different screen or something? Without the aux gauges I'd have no idea a regen was underway. How would someone else without these gauges know it was doing a regen?

Thanks,
Toby/

In my 2022 CTD it has only showed up twice only if I'm moving in-between screens on EVIC, I have not had it notice show up when I know for sure its in passive regen based on either smell at last stop or I notice the distance to empty readout falls quickly, my last regen a few days ago with notice on EVIC took 16 miles to clear at Hwy speeds of 55-60 MPH...

Just about the whole area between the Tach & Speedometer gauges, lights up with a message that reads

80 or 90 % full
drive at highways speeds
.... ...... ....... ...

once i drive about 5 miles, it will drop down to 70 %
about 3 more miles, it will drop to 60%
etc.
When it gets down to 20%, the message soon disappears

The salesman that i ordered through, got me the premier parts for the 2016 Ram Big Horn 3.0 eco-diesel
The premier EVIC was what they called the 7 inch

There's nothing that shows the EcoDiesel is in regen unless there's a problem. If you do see a DPF warning it's either a problem or due to driving habits the truck failed to complete a regen multiple times. Doesn't matter which EVIC the truck has.

I had lent the truck to a friend who was moving house. I didn't need it so he had it for a couple of weeks in the end. I hadn't told him of the need to make sure to keep driving it when the aux gauges said it was regenning simply because I didn't think he'd have it that long. He was moving under a half mile so probably did a bunch of short-haul driving, but I still have a hard time imagining he missed multiple regens in that time enough to clog the filter. But I could easily imagine how someone could do that over time if they weren't driving highways a lot. Poor design.
