Confused about what part I need for my hitch?

Hi everyone, so I just purchased a 23' rebel 1500. It appears to have come with a class 4 hitch based off the part #, but only the hitch, no 2' square part or anything else. Where does one find the correct next piece? See pics...

If your truck shows on the sticker that it is supposed to be equipped with a Class IV hitch, you'll need to have the dealership replace the piece that there now with one that has the 2" receiver welded on.

There is a bolt on part available but it's only a Class III.

here is part number should have been installed if u got class 4 hitch: verify always: What U got is the bar put on w/o hitch when no hitch ordered. U need to verify that your truck was supposed to come with a class IV hitch: Go to this site, put in your VIN number and insure should have Class IV hitch, if it does, next stop DEALER!!!

/// https://fcacommunity.force.com/RAM/s/equipment-listing ///

added: U should see this under Optional Equipment in Build Sheet, but for 23, may be in Standard listing, I got one of the 1st DT's in 2018: Class IV Receiver Hitch

Hitch Receiver - Class Iv - Mopar (82215222AD)

Do you have the 4 and 7pin connector next to the license plate look at your sticker, if it says class IV hitch and 4 and 7pin connector your dealer owes this to you, you also need the trailer brake controller.

TT brake controller not part of hitch package, unless listed in Optional. When I bought my truck, I had them put in a TT controller and module and do the flash because the truck I was trading in had same. So I got TT and BCM flash on the dealer.

It definitely is supposed to have a class IV on it. It weird that they would give me one that is missing the parts. I have all the brake controller, controls in the cabin, but not sure if I have the rest of what that even needs now lol.
So basically, if I add on the bolt on "plate" receiver, I'm limited to class 3, unless I have the dealer put a whole new, full hitch on? What a pain. Thank you all for the responses, I didn't even see them all until now.

It definitely looks like something is missing. Have the dealer run the VIN# to get the full list of options. That will tell you exactly what the truck is supposed to have for the hitch.

No need to have the dealership run the VIN#
Enter the VIN number on this website:
(Be sure to use all capital letters)
It will give you a PDF of the factory build sheet(how it left the factory).

When I ran it, that said class 3 which is not what I thought I would be getting with a vehicle including all the towing tech. I wasn't sure at first so I looked up the part # on that sticker, which says class IV but it clearly isn't. I guess joke is on me lol. I'm new to towing and hoping a class 3 can pull a u-haul trailer with an 8x10 storage unit in it. Might have to rely on one of those smart hitches, which adjusts and has a tongue weight meter.

If I remember correctly the OEM Class III hitch has a 600 tongue/6000 lbs towing capacity which is more than enough for most people and what they tow with a 1500.
For reference a Class IV is 1000/10000 rating.

Whatever the case may be, he needs to find out what his truck has for options in order to determine what's needed or possibly missing

Hi everyone, so I just purchased a 23' rebel 1500. It appears to have come with a class 4 hitch based off the part #, but only the hitch, no 2' square part or anything else. Where does one find the correct next piece? See pics

I’m unaware of the Rebel, but if you have those storage bins in the back seats check for your part. I gut give that a go..good luck.

Look at this website for the other 2023 Ram Hitches & more information

Ok, I looked at my window sticker, which says class III bumper hitch, but my optional equipment package says class IV receiver-hitch. When I check it online, it says class III, so I'm thinking they owe me a new one?

The hole in the rear bumper is probably what they're referring to as the "Class III hitch"
Look on the plastic near the hole there is probably a weight rating molded onto the plastic.

Under optional equipment if it says class IV and it doesn't say delete next to it, they owe you a class IV hitch.
