Well on a different tack at 72, living in farm country, driving in fields, dirt roads, gravel and dirt driveways, I go through the car wash when I get a chance to. My dog rides in the back seat most of the time so also lots of red dog hair in the interior to go along with all the dust. When the pollen or dust gets real heavy I may turn the hose on it to rinse it off.

Just wait. Everything takes several days for me now at 73.

I really should make a list of things that will make detailing and washing so much faster. Obviously getting a quality coating on it is the first step. Would y'all like for me to make a list out of my favorite products to make your detailing experience better? I was already thinking about doing a how to. I have been detailing cars for 22 years.

Absolutely. Would be insightful to see what you recommend. TIA

I take two or three days to do most projects, for the truck or just a project around the house.

I live in a VERY dusty area and the truck gets washed every week, never in a machine.

Polish, when I can !

About 3 years ago I had a detail shop install ceramic coatings on our vehicles - my wife's sedan and my truck. Since those coatings were installed I haven't waxed either vehicle - just wash, rinse and dry. A couple of times a year I would spray on a detailer and wipe that off - easy peasy. The coatings show no sign of losing the shine or water repellency. The draw back is the coatings were expensive...

Soooo... check out this thread on a product suggested by Treburkulosis...

I did this yesterday and I fully expect to have this coating perform like the product I paid a detailer for. Very DIY and all in less than $200.

I'm thinking of getting one of those foaming soap gadgets for my pressure washer to wash the rig with, then use a soft chamois to wipe it down afterwards. Wax when needed.

What is so stupid is doing a true ceramic coat such as Cquartz pro or finest reserve is no different in the application or removal. You have to know people in Colorado. Have a license to buy and install it, yet Undrdog is no different in durability and performance. Plus you dont need a license lol. Its easy to get approved for their Pro+ as well. It is more for professionals, but again not hard to get into that line.

Ha ha I hear you. I am at Detailer and even at times I will hire someone to clean out my truck. The van just stays dirty. I suggest TheDetailMaestro.com, if you were to ask me. Then you can have someone young do the entire car while you’re relaxing lol trucks are getting harder and harder to do a nice polish on these days.

I’m 55 but I feel like I’m still 30 and it took me 3 days to work on my jeep
This is why I so love Undrdog Coating and The Koch Chemie Ceramic Coating that I have on my ram. I am pushing 40, it took me 1 hour and 10 minutes to wash blow off and wipe down my interior. This was two vehicles. I coated my interior and it takes 10 minutes to wipe it down. I am going to time my wifes Jeep tomorrow. I figure 15-20 minutes tops.

Its all in the transport to the dealership. I see it all too often. Customer comes in, its a brand new car why does it need paint correction? Put it under the light and whoa scratches. Plus with installing Cquartz or Modesta its required to at least do a gloss enhancement. That is why Undrdog is so great, they dont make you do anything if the customer doesn't want it. Literally Purps it wash it coat it. Plus the price point is so much better for most people. Ive found most people are ok with how it looks. Its me who goes nuts because I know there are scratches and swirls that are there. Ultimately its their vehicle. If they are happy with it, then I have to be as well.

I just picked up a 3rd Vehicle a 19 Ford Flex. I already know even at 11k miles it will need a two step to be up to my standards. I will hopefully be doing that next week.

I’m 53. I did a strip wash, clay mitt, rewash, dry with prep, and Adams spray advanced graphene coating in one day. I was really pooped. This was when my truck was quite new. 4 months old maybe.

Now I’ll spray wash it, bucket wash it, blow dry with a lawn blower, and cs3 or graphene boost it. I usually do the tires with Adams graphene coating and that takes about 4 hours.

These rams are big! They take a lot of time and effort. They sure look good though.

And if it's lifted....add another hour or two.

42 yr old detailer. Ill clay bar/towel once every few years so that time restraint isn't an issue. I typically wash and apply my favorite spray ceramic after each wash every other week, typically takes less than 2 hours. I enjoy it still so it doesn't feel like work luckily.
