I'm also would like to know what the most current version is for the UConnect 5 8.4 nonnav system? Anyone that can confirm they have the latest version.

Looks like you have a 2018, like me. If you are refering to the screen delamination issue, that was 2018 issue only. 1st year of the CarPlay. That has long since been fixed and a lot of folks (like myself) were able to get them replaced by Uconnect/FCA, even outside of warranty.

I think he's looking at buying a newer truck. uConnect 5 is only 22 and newer.

I think the issues with these UC5 systems is pretty hit or miss. But I was thinking the other day that we are not seeing the volume of posts about stereo issues that we were a year ago. I wonder if Ram is finally getting a handle on it.

My 2022 tradesman classic has it, seems alright. Only issues I see are once in a great while when starting truck the screen will be black but all of the options for menu will be lit on bottom and when you hit a option it returns to normal, and when you hit recirculate (I always thought that made it default to max ac) only the recirculate light on screen seemed to register, max ac stays the same, and when I hit max ac on the screen I don’t think it makes any difference. This is with the ac on. In general I think the sound system in my truck can be quite louder.

I have not had any issues with my UC5 radio and it is interfaced with an AMPPro for aftermarket DSP amps.

The Non-NAV version is the one that sucks. I've been to the dealer a few times and had it updated since I cannot do it myself (Connected Services Delete thanks to RONA). I've finally got the module for the 12.1 on the way to go with the screen/bezel I've had sitting in my office closet for months and I'll be doing the swap when it gets here next week. If you can find a truck with the 8.4 w/NAV it's also got the same better compute module as the 12.1. Having a couple Ram's in the family what I've noticed is that the R1-Low (8.4 w/o NAV) sucks on anything higher trimmed than a tradesman. If I bring up my 360 cams or do wireless carplay on my laramie it starts to crap the bed just like those cheapo android tablets when you open too many apps until I reboot it. The trucks with the 12.1 or 8.4 w/Nav that I've played with on the latest software seem to be so much better behaved on trucks with more options like 360 cam, heated/cooled seats, etc.

Infortainment makes a harness that allows older rams to convert to Uconnect 5...if Ram could or would reverse engineer a similar harness they could eleviate the headaches and put Uconnect 4c 8.4 back in our trucks..connector.jpg
