So I just wanted to put this product out there. I have been testing Undrdog Pro on my wife's Jeep and it has been a year and wow it still performs and as well as any ceramic. It is teflon based. It is a great driver coating. It will last as long as any ceramic coating Carpro or Modesta. The shine I truly believe it rivals Cquartz Finest Reserve. The beading is huge water beads. Its also super cheap for what all you get. Joel and his team have put a lot into the development of all of these products. Their soap is amazing. The QD is excellent for both coated and non coated vehicles. Purps is the best iron remover I have ever used. His tire coating is amazing and last forever as well. I would highly suggest this line for the guy that wants his truck to look amazing and yet not break the bank.

Very DIY. It is so simple my kids can do it and maintain the coating as well. Just let me know when you get it! I will be glad to help you!

Wow the Jeep looks great! I'll look this product up when I'm home from work.
It is probably the most amazing coating on the market that isn't Cquartz Finest Reserve or Modesta. It delivers the same shine as Koch Chemie C0.02 or Cquartz Pro. You can use it on everything. Paint, glass, trim, wheels, interior, just not on cloth obviously. Heck I use it on my boys shoes.

Hi Treb, well, we got our new to us used car and i want to give Undrdog coating a try. The car is a 2022 with only 10k miles on it and, to my eye, the paint looks basically new. I see no swirls or scratches. The dealer put a coating on it called Perma-Plate, I'm sure it's crap...

So a couple of questions... How do I prep the car? I have a random orbit polisher with some mild Maguires polish and have used a clay bar in the past. I really don't think it needs the polisher. Maybe clay bar? Do I need to strip the Perma-Plate off? What's the best way to do that? Is the small bottle of Undrdog Pro enough? The car is a mid-size SUV, charcoal grey color.

Thanks for any advice, I sure appreciate your willingness to help out!

Hi @aces-n-eights , Looks like there is how to under each product at this site (even a tab on how to apply the product - if you scroll down on each one, also seeing prep statements):

https://getundrdog.com

I also like that they offer discount for signing up an account as well as a Veteran/Military Discount!

I haven't used this product yet, but sure looks like it's worth giving it a try for those into this level of detailing.

Congrats on the newish car! I actually had to google that one. It is some sort of protective coating. You will have to remove that first. I'm going to say Meguiars 105 with a Meguiars black microfiber pad to get it off. Then you will have to polish it afterwards. Trust me it will make it pop. Listed are the steps you need to do in order start until finish.

1: Using Undrdog Soap wash the entire vehicle.

2: blow dry or towel dry with a good drying towel.

3: Using you DA and the Meguiars black micro fiber pad and Meguiars 105 prime the pad and start removing the coating. You may or may not see it coming off. It is tho. I know when I removed Undrdog to test the Koch Chemie C0.02 Ceramic Coating I didn't see mine. Once this is done start over. You will need to periodically blow your pad out with air.

1: Using Undrdog Purps spray the entire exterior. Wait 10-12 minutes it may or may not turn purple. Spray it off. This acts as your claying.

2: Using Undrdog Soap wash the entire vehicle. Make sure you don't feel any contaminated things on the paint. Simple use your hand across the panel as you are washing it. If you do, Ill add a step 3. Its happened once for me.

3: If you feel contamination you can use a clay lubber and clay and lightly rub it on the area to remove it.

4: Dry it off again.

5: At this point if you are happy with the way it looks then I would highly suggest Koch Chemie F6 and either a Rupes Yellow Foam pad for a non metallic paint or use the black microfiber you used in the coating removal. You could use Meguiars 205, but Honestly F6 is the best finisher. The clarity is insane. You will periodically need to blow your pad out with air.

6: After you remove the polish, its time to prep the paint for coating. You can use one of two things. Wax and grease remover in a spray bottle or Carpro Eraser. Spray it on your microfiber towel and wipe each panel. I use a stick light to make sure I didn't miss any left over polish. Ill link everything I suggest at the end.

7: Undrdog Pro. The small bottle will easily do your SUV. I did my truck and my wifes jeep with it. So with a legit coating. Make sure you are in your garage and its cool outside. Watch the humidity as well. If the humidity is lower, the set time may take longer. If its higher, it may take less time. Using rubber gloves and with a new applicator pad prime the pad with the coating. I would start with a fender first. Just until you get the hang of it. Undrdog likes to bubble. Its a waiting game with this coating. I usually start checking it around the 8 minute mark. When I was first discussing it with Joel, he told me it will literally come off like butter. It does when its ready. With two microfiber towels go side to side make sure you get it all off. Go back over it with another clean towel. Then panel wipe. That basically means if you did the fender. Wiper two feet onto the door top to bottom and the same with the bumper. The coating likes to move. Using you stick light check for any remaining coating. It will look cloudy. Repeat around the rest of the paint following the same process. Total time per panel is 8-15 minutes

8: Go around the entire vehicle one more time with your light. Places coatings like to hide that you can easily miss. Around mirrors, the back side of the hood, emblems, around license plates especially around the rear bumper, and glass. Don't worry it will take a few hours to fully cure so you have time to catch anything you missed.

9: Wait period. Although I have been told you can wait a few hours and then it can get wet. Personally you have now invested this time into the coating. 48 hrs is my wait time. Thats with any real coating ceramic or Undrdog. Don't touch it!

10: After 48 hours you are good to go. It can now get wet.

11: Wait two weeks before your first wash. After that it is just as simple as the two bucket method and Soap. Once a quarter after you wash it Use quick detailer for help maintain the coating. It is super simple. Make sure you wash all of your towels in the washing machine really good. If you have any question please don't hesitate to ask! I love helping!

Things you need:
2 buckets I use the orange home depot ones

Two strainers

1 Microfiber Madness Wash Mit

Undrdog Wash 32oz

Undrdog Purps 32oz

Undrdog Quick Detailer:

Undrdog Pro:

Microfiber towels and applicator pad Honestly I would just use the Undrdog ones. I tried to find other towels, but for the money its the best for removing the coating.
I would suggest getting 9 total

Gloves all you need is just some surgical grade gloves and a mask if you are sensitive to smells. I am not so I don't use one.

Compounds and Polish:

Pads:

If needed. This also includes the two towels you will need to remove the polish

Misc: Microfiber Towels for compound removal and panel wipe

Panel prep:

Or any wax and grease remover with a spray bottle.

The only Chemical guys thing I own lol.

WOW Treb! What a write-up! Thanks so much for taking the time to detail how you detail! Great step-by-step instructions. I think I can do this!

I see Undrdog has a starter pack that has about everything I need from them - I'll get that headed my way. I have a few things and will pick up a couple more items based on your recommendations.

I'll let you know how it goes and will ask away if I have any questions.

Thanks again, man - awesome!

Treb, I just went to the Undrdog site to place an order and it looks like they have a referral program. If you refer me, you get a bonus and so do I. Want to give it a try? PM me with the details you need to refer me and I'll get you the info.

I have an Undrdog car today! Actually yesterday was the big day to get this done. I followed the steps that Treb so generously laid out and it went without a hitch. I'm an old guy, almost 70 and it took me a little over 5 hours all told.

A couple of comments...

- In my case the first step that Treb recommended was to strip off a protective coating installed by the dealer. If you do not have a coating on your car/truck you might be able to skip this step. Treb, what do you think, if there is not a coating can you skip this step? Would you go "Wash, Purps, Wash, Chemie F6 polish, Eraser and then Undrdog Pro"?

- After doing the initial compound with Maguires 105, I could really tell the coating was gone - the water did not bead AT ALL.

- I'm not sure I began wiping the Undrdog Pro at the right time... I waited about 6-8 minutes and it seemed to buff off nicely. Seems pretty forgiving.

- Undrdog has a starter kit that has everything you will need - I recommend it. It's about $100 but they have a mil discount so I was able to save a few bucks. Even at $100 it's a great deal!

Great shine at the end! A real hard gloss look. I'll get a pic when I can take it out of the garage and it's not raining!

Thanks again, Treb - your write-up gave me the confidence to do this project.

105 took it off for sure. Yes you can skip the removal. With any coating it is recommended that you at least do a gloss enhancement. That meaning Use something like F6 on it. As far as a normal step by step Purps first, then you spray that off. Next wash it and dry it off. Then because you can choose if you want to do a gloss enhancement or paint correction at that point. Undrdog does not make you do this step as the high end Ceramics Cquartz and Modesta require. That is why it appeals to the working man. Then you would use either eraser or wax and grease remover to make sure you have a perfectly prepped surface, then you coat it. Its very straight forward. I can't wait to see pictures! I am glad it went smoothly for you!
