Parking brake is not enough for ice

And think of all the entertainment value with miscellaneous posts. I was running out the door in a big hurry, jumped in my truck, and hauled out the 'xxxxx' onto my laneway. PS; the above potential incident is more likely with a rear-mounted winch or anchor line to the bumper or hitch. .

Firestone Transforce AT & Winter.. not a good mix

I have no experience with Firestone tires although the Transforce AT2 LT looks quite reasonable. What pressure are you using? More about pressures below. I've tried a few different dedicated winter tires & always come back to BFG KO2s. In fact, the last set of winter tires I tried out, I sold...

    2011 1500 Multifunction Switch

LOL, I understand a cold solder joint is hardware & can't be reset. I've just read about trying a reset to potentially remedy erratic gremlin issues. I should have qualified that a bit more precisely. So, what I should have asked is; Is the TIPM just a simple hardware interface between a...

    New fog light set up.

I'm so envious of those that have a shop and/or lift to work on their trucks. I think that might be a good priority for my next house. A smaller laneway with a big shop & a lift. 8-) .

    2011 1500 Multifunction Switch

Thanks for that info. I'll be ready to fix my Ram's TIPM if it goes flakey in the next 10 or 15 years. In the early 80s, I was an electronic assembler for a couple of years and then worked on troubleshooting and repairing a few complex devices after that. Touching up the cold solder...

    New fog light set up.

Thanks. That gives me more fuel for the thought process. 8-) I helped a machinist friend move all his insanely heavy toys (5K-8K #s) to a new place last year. I'm confident he has a bending break among all his stuff. 8-) .

    New fog light set up.

I like how you've mounted the 4 fog lights centered on your truck. Do you have any more detailed pics of the bracket holding the 4 lights? I'm going to explore doing something similar on my Ram. I need good fog lights where I live and while the OEM LED fog lights on the truck are awesome...

    2011 1500 Multifunction Switch

Just for clarification, are the relays within the TIPM socketed and easily replaced from the topside? And the solder joints that you're referring to are on the backside of fuse & relay sockets? .

    Negotiating Ram Connect price

I've been paying about $78 Canadian per year since about 2010. Actually, it was once upon a time about $48 but, you know how that goes. Up up up. PM to me and I'll tell you what works for me. UPDATE: OOPs, my deals identified above were strictly for Sirius Xm radio and had nothing to...

    Floor Mat Part Number Requested...

The WeatherTech mats I bought in 2008 for my Tundra, did seem to be a bit thicker but I have no problems with those I bought for my Ram in January '22. My primary interest with mats is collecting snow and dirt and not leaking juice into the carpet, these work well for me so far. When I wear...

    Floor Mat Part Number Requested...

Hi Tigerbaby19 I have a '21 Warlock QC and used the following; 464651 & 462162 grey (I added this if you're using a phone and can't see the numbers below). 444651 & 442162 black I used grey in the front, black shows the winter salt too much for my liking. Black in the rear, because I rarely...

    4th Gen 1500 Goose Gear?

Parking brake is not enough for ice

You should test your theory otherwise, it's just conjecture. Yesterday afternoon, I tested to see if an ignition shutdown and restart would maintain the 4wd setting on my Ram or if I'd require to switch from 2wd to 4wd again. As identified by crash68, the transfer case did stay in 4wd after a...

Parking brake is not enough for ice

Yup, just as you said. I tested power cycling the ignition & the 4wd stayed engaged. I have no idea what happened a few weeks ago when I thought it didn't stay locked. Could have been a brain fart or faulty memory. 8-) For the OPer, with 4 wheels locked (4wd), you'd have twice the drag. I...

Parking brake is not enough for ice

I could be mistaken but I thought when I shut off my Ram truck while in 4wd, after re-starting it was back in 2wd. My Tundra always maintained whatever condition existed prior to shutdown. Does the electronic transfer case stay engaged in 4wd after you shut down the ignition? .

Insight Needed, Dealership is no help on my 2019 Ram 1500 5.7L Hemi

After reading Dean's first report about the fuses not being completely seated, I found many of my '21 Ram were the same, not fully seated. Thanks, Dean! Only time will tell if this cured my occasional mystery gremlin feature. .

    Best Hard Retractable Bed Cover

I've had/have a Roll N Lock on my last 2 trucks over about 15 years and wouldn't choose anything else. As mentioned, living in a cold region does add extra challenges and I've had it freeze closed a few times (years ago). Where I live, once it's frozen, forget about opening it until warmer...
