    Shock upgrade

I went through four sets before finally getting the Carli power wagon specific shocks and they’re good. I two a 16ft flatbed fairly regularly with bikes and gear. Loaded and unloaded they’re good on and off road.

    66RFE Rebuild or remanufactured?

After fighting mine and rebuilding it the first time at 92k miles, it blew up again at 96k. I opted for a very budget friendly built unit with a few small upgrades from Veterans Powertrain out of Wisconsin. They were incredibly friendly, specialize in RFEs and worked with me on a really tight...

    Electric fan

I have a 13 Ram 2500 5.7 hemi. I don’t know how I missed it but while replacing the fan clutch I noticed the electric fan. It dawned on me that I’ve never heard the electric fan run or kick on. I checked the fuse box and there is one 80 amp fuse slot with no fuse. I bought this from auction, it...

Leaky brakes, or bad axle seal?

Likely to be axle/wheel seal. Just a few months ago I had to do the rear axle seals in the middle of a 2000 mile roadtrip. TorqueKing.com has everything in one kit at a reasonable price.

    66RFE TROUBLE

So the saga continues, 600 miles in on the rebuild and the overdrive clutch assembly failed, the clutch hub welded itself to the new sonnax bushings. Bearing material in the pan and filter. Ruined the new converter as well. After the rebuild I was having the same issue as I originally started...

    66RFE TROUBLE

Update: rebuilt the transmission in the garage last week and installed over the weekend. Test drive today for about 20 miles after fluid fill and relearn. Used an OEM rebuild kit with the updated TSB provided by mopar in the kit. Sonnax valve body, sonnax bushing and Torrington bearings. Moses...

Can the 66rfe be rebuilt with a 68rfe rebuild kit?

https://youtu.be/GIEz_yWtQDk?si=3Rth-3KtBDrKpBl6 Watch that video and it will answer the questions you’re looking to get answers for. If you’re looking to DIY, it’s a pretty user friendly transmission to do at home given you have a few specialty tools. There are OEM kits that come with the TSB...

    66RFE replacement expectation

Walking a similar path as the OP. I have a real problem with my 66rfe although it is drivable. Went to the local Ram service center and they quoted 9.5K for trans, cooler, shift cable and 10 to 12 month wait time not including R&R. I just ordered my rebuild kit, have the sonnax valve body and a...

    66RFE TROUBLE

https://share.icloud.com/photos/01dIeFvQ-NLvtKsWQ2x9UmScQ I don’t know how well this is going to work but here is one example of the issue I’m dealing with. Only giving it part throttle, rpm loss but continue gaining speed.

    66RFE TROUBLE

Dropped it off with the local Ram service center. Explained the entire dialog with them. They completed a relearn and “software update”. Completed a test drive and was able to repeat the rpm loss while accelerating and driving under load. Interesting that they could not find a single thing...

    66RFE TROUBLE

Unfortunately I have to agree. I think it’s time to do it before it grenades and turns into hard parts replacement. Until I make a decision it’s back to the Tacoma for daily use.

    66RFE TROUBLE

I tend to be on the proactive side of fluid changes. Oil is done at 4500 no questions. Trans is between 20 and 30K. Agreed that there are many differences between the two but I’m over particular about scheduled maintenance.

    66RFE TROUBLE

No burnt fluid and the filters and pan magnet look good without much buildup. I grew up in a transmission shop, my old man built everything from powerglides to 68rfe and everything in between. I’m not big on modifying outside of OE unless it’s a true problem solver. I’ve monitored this thing as...

    66RFE TROUBLE

I’ve gone through this thing as best I can without a complete tear down and rebuild. The truck is a 2013 5.7 66rfe 4x4. I have now 100K on the clock. When I bought the truck I didn’t notice it right away because I don’t hammer on the gas. What I have issues with now is lag/slipping during hard...

Anyone tried the ball joint delete option?

I have the American iron off-road delete. Haven’t had any trouble with them going on 10k miles. They’re expensive but so far so good. 2013 Gas 2500 if that helps.

Anyone running 285/70 on OEM 17" rims?

I run 285/70-17 on factory steel wheels. Rides fine, normally around town I’m set at 54 psi all four corners. I’m in a 2500 4x4.

    AlfaOBD

I’ve searched to no end and have not found a direct answer, although have seen many posts and videos of a similar problem. I just upgraded my evic from 3 inch to 7 inch my truck is a 2013 and I bought a 2013 7 inch premium for the upgrade. I use alfaobd via windows with the mx+ bluetooth...

Just picked up a former BLM Fire Department 2013 2500 5.7 hemi crew 4x4. This will be ram number 3 for me. Previously had a 2014 2wd hemi crew and a 2002 single cab 5.9. I grew up in a mopar family and have a 93 club cab 5.2 Dakota my grandpa bought new, passed to my dad and then to me...
