    Rotor and pad kit recommendations?

Permatex 24125 is the best lubricant you can use, DOT 3 is also the best if you don't plan on bleeding brakes all the time as it doesn't absorb moisture as much as DOT4 and DOT5.1. Raybestos Element3 work wonders if you are in a high moisture environment, going on a year strong with absolutely...

2019 brake fluid change results 56k miles

Quick update, I put about 60 miles on the truck and its a massive improvement. Rotors / Calipers aren't getting nearly as hot, no more squeaking (so far), gas mileage has increase, no wheel shake when braking hard from high speeds (like warped rotors), and I can tell it coasts better now also...

2019 brake fluid change results 56k miles

Attached are some photos of the brake fluid job I did on the truck today, figured I'd share my results. Pushed almost a full gallon of fluid through the system. The fluid color was pretty dark compared to normal clear DOT3/4, not sure if Chrysler uses something dyed or what. I'm trying to...

    Check your intake manifold bolts

haha, I beat it with a purse first so I was a bit tired before hand. I'm used to 7-8ft-lbs so I tighten it just enough before the torque wrench comes in. Mine all took 3-4 turns before I even got to that point, I didn't want to crush the gasket or plastic (assuming that can happen - I haven't...

    Check your intake manifold bolts

I originally did the same and my "hand tight" only put them at about 50-60in-lbs FYI. It was enough to not throw codes but wasn't good enough.

    Check your intake manifold bolts

Just buy the 1/4" torque wrench from Harbor Freight, its a good torque wrench for under $20. https://www.harborfreight.com/hand-tools/sockets-ratchets/torque-wrenches/1-4-in-drive/14-in-drive-20-200-in-lb-click-torque-wrench-63881.html

    Check your intake manifold bolts

I tightened mine last night. I went to 130in-lbs (10.83ft-lbs) as I figured 10in-lbs won't be enough to crack the plastic and since they always loosen up this is my attempt to keep them tight. If they loosen up by next oil change I'm going to use high temp thread locker. There is a noticeable...

    Blackstone - used oil analysis

QSFS 5W-30 9400 Miles. Driven like a race car, barely any idling, raised RPM (700-800). Fram XG2 oil filter. OCI indicator is 10K miles. This is my new go to oil as its cheap and works great. Easily goes 10k miles. edit: This engine has less wear rate then my 2015 L83 Silverado did with the...

Conventional or Synthetic? First oil change on new-to-me '14 w/ 70k

This makes sense, conventional doesn't lubricate as well. You probably drive that vehicle easy and the cylinder walls glazed over. Driving it hard would have potentially done the same thing. Highway miles are considered best for an engine because there is more power applied to everything.

Engine oil for proper break-in: conventional or synthetic?

Synthetic is best, conventional is garbage. You only risk glazing the cylinder wall if you idle too much or very very low power. More power = greater ring pressure against the cylinder wall. They have proven out break in isn't really a thing outside what I said. If you are ****, early oil...

Did Redline Oil work against your Hemi Tick?

^ This, from all the research I've done the cams simply just don't get enough oil period. The longer the oil stays on the metal when the engine is off the better. Also excessive idling with low oil flow rate is probably enough to wear the lifters/cam over time slowly. An oil that is thicker when...

    Service Electronic Stability Control ...

I replaced the battery tonight with an EverStart MAXX-H7 so we will see if this fixes anything. Seems like a good battery; tested 100CCA over rating and I couldn't get the crank test to work (I'm guessing voltage didn't drop low enough for it to detect it).

Have you replaced your battery and had problems since? Thinking this might be my issue also.

Adjusting your RAM 1500 throttle response with Hptuners

Quick update, the above values were too aggressive and slow, this seems to work better.

    Blackstone - used oil analysis

This is with oil temperatures "saturated" and at "peak" temperature. Engine run time is at least 30 minutes with 50% highway driving. Its the extreme low measurement. Most of the time its not that low at idle. edit: Fram Ultra XG10060 currently. Moving to Royal Purple next change.

    Blackstone - used oil analysis

Just recently put 5W30 Quaker State Full Synthetic (QSFS) into my new to me 2019 RAM. 540 RAT blog just recently put it on his #1 spot. I'll be doing a UOA at around 7.5K miles of this oil. I bumped up the idle speed to 700RPM to keep the oil pressure up higher (doesn't drop below 40 now from...

    Blackstone - used oil analysis

I was going to use the 10-48 but couldn't find it in stock anywhere local and shipping was going to take too long. Does 20-500 and 20-820 both work?

Adjusting your RAM 1500 throttle response with Hptuners

Adding my setup here since thread helped me out a lot. I decided to mellow out how linear the start of the pedal was and ramp up quick so it feels better when you get on it but moves into the power smoother. It doesn't have that quick seat kickback that wants to break lose the tires.

Coolant Leak from hose, what hose is this? (plus a few extra questions)

Found a random youtube video and took a screenshot. Drew a red arrow pointing to the two lines/radiator. I find it hard to believe one of these is a coolant line... Edit: Looked up some stuff and that is the power steering cooler, Since it would be really bad if these lines were leaking coolant...

Coolant Leak from hose, what hose is this? (plus a few extra questions)

I bought a 2004 5.7L RAM and have a few issues I need to work out: 1.) I have a coolant leak from a hose that looks like its coming from the lower smaller radiator (In front of the main big one). The line looks metal and then goes to a hose with a spring clamp on it and this is where its...
