    Lifter failure!

They couldn't duplicate the sound but as soon as i turn up it magically appeared for all to hear haha.

    Lifter failure!

Couldn't tell you the exact failure without contacting them but i know one had to have the lifters and camshaft replaced and his truck had a lot less KMs than mine. He didn't even know it was a thing, he just told me casually like he was just unlucky and maybe had a bad truck from the factory...

    Lifter failure!

I honestly don't know, there are literally thousands and thousands of RAMs up here in Alberta/Canada all going through winter the same way, if not worse than mine. I plug it in almost every night or when its not being used and i try not to idle the truck and if it is frozen over i will usually...

    Lifter failure!

I've been driving the truck around today as its my day off and it runs so smooth once more. Start up there are zero noises and its nice and quiet. It was definitely running a little rough before as i can tell the difference now driving it after the fix. The dealership were good to deal with, i...

Forged 5.7 with Bolt Ons vs 392 Stroker

Hopefully i will be joining this train next year!

    Lifter failure!

Thanks for all the input guys, hopefully this thread provides more insight to others in a similar situation. The dealership were very helpful for there part, it was the chrysler canada side of it that was the issue. They got it in and done pretty much the next day after dropping off the...

    Lifter failure!

Ok well i guess i will give it a try. I really appreciate the help. Totally off topic but do the 6.4 392's in the SRT variants suffer from lifter problems as well, reason I ask is that in the next year or two i kinda want to swap out the 5.7 for one? Truck has warranty until June 2022 so less...

    Lifter failure!

So just to confirm after reading your last reply, i should go with Redline 0w20 rather than the Redline 0w30? What do you think the worst case scenario im looking at?

    Lifter failure!

Nope zero towing.....ever actually. I planned on towing when i bought it then plans changed and I've never needed to

    Lifter failure!

Im going back to redline, probably 0w30 for the winter here. Im in no way a mechanic, i can do basic maintenance but you telling me it sounds bad doesn't make me feel good? Truck has a block heater and gets plugged in through winter when i can, there has been occasions where ive been out on...

    Lifter failure!

I didn't keep reciepts so i ended up having to go through 4 years worth of banking transactions and highlight everytime i bought oil and filters. I then typed it all up stating what oil i had purchased and from what location and the cost. Because the majority of my oil was PUP 5w-20, it was...

    Lifter failure!

I already picked it up before i seen this! I should have asked for the old parts. So get this they kept all my receipts "in case chrysler canada asks for them" they never even had to show them

    Lifter failure!

Update: Dropped off receipts late afternoon Tuesday, then got a call today at around 5pm that i missed as i was getting ready to head to work saying my truck is ready to be picked up. So either the warranty covered it or i will be getting a bill when i get there haha. Does that time frame sound...

    Lifter failure!

Yes admittedly at first i did not know too much about the issues with the Hemi and the lifter problems. So i would just run the truck with the MDS enabled. It wasn't until i was working on a job site and another RAM would park next to me that i first heard the tapping on his truck. He introduced...

    Lifter failure!

What are you talking about i never stated anything about playing with any towing mode....i don't even tow anything. I simply stated i deactivate the MDS.... Also the truck has been run on PUP 5w20 majority of its miles until recently i switched to redline because im sick of hearing the ******...

    Lifter failure!

I've moved so much that these things get lost on the way. I've never had this problem before with any other manufacturer when my vehicle has been under warranty. Chasing receipts from years ago around the city isn't exactly how i imagined this would go. I will update again next week hopefully...

    Lifter failure!

So far I've managed to find two reciepts so not off to a great start. My bank wasn't much help in locating transactions as the store chain i bought my oil from over the years need the the exact date and store location to find my purchases. Funny thing is I've bought all my oil filters from the...

    Lifter failure!

Update: Dealership called saying that i have to show all receipts of oil changes and maintenance before they will touch it. So i have to find 4 years of oil change receipts which i know i don't have because I've moved so many times. Any guidance on this?

    Lifter failure!

Does using 5w30 void the warranty? I don't know its pretty loud in person, it can be heard from 15 feet away. I don't think my phone camera did it justice.
  22. LuFc92

    Lifter failure!

Yes i do, i never used to but for the last 26k Kms i disable everytime i drive the truck. I did not know that? Everything I've read suggests the MDS is linked to lifter failure

    Lifter failure!

Winter we can see anything upto -40 DC, the truck was being used everyday through last winter. Well 8k KM is only 5k miles right? I believe it was already failing before i put the redline in the truck, i still plan to use redline once the issue is fixed

    Lifter failure!

It does it warm and cold. The first place they checked was manifold bolts, it even says it on my paperwork. The truck is still under warranty so im not bearing the cost but the tech said he's confident one of the lifters has collapsed now that he can actually hear it. Id say 6 months...

    Lifter failure!

See it sounds louder to me on the passenger side but at this point its just loud wherever you stand. I could hear it as soon as i opened the service department door and stepped outside, not sure if he was a tech but the guy pulling it up jumped out and said everything is good to go.....i said...
