Morimoto headlights installed, but no turn signals

Were the headlights hybrids? I just installed hybrid headlights in my 2020 diesel 2500, and the front turn signals wouldn't work. Morimoto had lots of suggestions, but none of them helped at all. I finally returned them and bought even more expensive fully LED headlights. Those worked. I like...

Why should I stay with RAM?

My recommendation would depend on how much towing you do. More than half of the miles on my RAM 2500 are towing miles. If you are planning on getting in a lot of towing, it's hard to beat a diesel. I owned a Ram 1500 ecodiesel, and it was sorta OK, but when it threw a rod a 33,000 miles and they...

    Upgrades capable of towing maximum

The earlier posts about the 2500 with the diesel are right: on a grade the exhaust brake is awesome. And since this is a regular gig, you may be doing those hills in slush and snow. Good tires for towing in that snow are an important factor in the safety equation. And surprisingly, a 2500 often...

    DEF additive

Thirty miles to work each way may not be enough to keep your DPF happy. It seems that you have to get that filter good and hot, not just to a normal operating temperature, to bake the deposits out. If your commute is up a 6% grade and you have a load, well that might do it. Winter seems to be...

Morimoto headlights installed, but no turn signals

The turn signal bulbs actually illuminate, but not as turn signals: just as part of the daytime running lights. The truck still says that the turn signal lights are out, and makes me push the start button twice to start it up. So it seems like some sort of computer glitch where it won't even try...

Morimoto headlights installed, but no turn signals

I just installed Morimoto hybrid LED headlights on my 2020 2500. I reused my original bulbs in the turn signals, but they won't turn on for the flashers. I get a message that turn signal lights are out, and the signals hyperflash. The rear turn signals work fine, and flash normally. The mirror...

    Tires

I mostly love my Cooper Discoverer AT3s. They are quieter than the OEM tires, & WAY better in snow. As a 10-ply tire, they are very resistant to sway. That's real important for my situation, because I use my 2500 diesel for towing more than not. But they won't qualify for the OP's unicorn...

Anyone tried low profile tires for towing stability

I put Cooper Discoverer AT3 tires on my 2500. Theses are 10-ply and E rated at 221. (They are also 3-peaks rated for snow.) They are super stiff and would let me load about 7200 pounds per axle, which is way over the 6000 pounds that the truck is built for. These are super stable: shoving on the...

How much better is a 2500 for towing?

I had a 1500 ecodiesel. It was pretty good for fuel efficiency, but it always felt a bit underpowered for towing. Slow on hills, onramps, etc. After it threw a rod we upgraded to the 2500 with the Cummins. What a difference. Pass big rigs going up grades. Use the exhaust brake on 8% downgrades...

    Help me choose a truck?

The difference between the headlights in the Level 1 and Level 2 trims is huge. It does not seem easy to upgrade.

CTDs Can Suffer If Not Worked Hard. Please Elaborate

I have a 2020 CTD and when I used it as a daily driver for a month or so last year, I had problems with the Diesel Particulate Filter. This was winter conditions. I was running the truck long enough to get it up to operating temperature and even enough to run through the regen cycles, but the...

    Cybertruck vs RAM 2500

It might start off filling a specialized niche market. My construction vehicles seldom exceeded 100 miles in travel in a day, but occasionally dealt with large loads. Like the time the concrete truck slid off my customer's driveway in the snow, or the crane got stuck in the mud. An EV has oodles...

Best AT tires for everyday use and snow?

The Cooper Discoverer AT3 XLT is an e-rated tire with the 3 peaks symbol. They have been fine in the snow and dirt roads. A bit stiff but I run them at 70 pounds for towing. The tow and corner just great.

RAM 2500 6.4 vs Cummins for Travel Trailer with 7500lb GVWR

Lots of people have extolled the virtues of the CTD: range, mpg, power to pass while towing up a hill, longer (but more expensive) maintenance intervals. I have one and I tow a small travel trailer. But it can't be overemphasized what a difference it makes when towing down a grade. Wow! I was...

    DEF system issues

I think you're going to be happy with your new truck. The better mpg will offset the higher fuel costs. The longer oil change interval will offset the higher oil and filter costs. If you run it long enough to get the exhaust system good and hot for about an hour now and again (the easiest way to...

    2020 2500 shocks

I have been running the Fox 2.0 shocks for a few weeks now. So far no towing or washboard roads. They are definitely stiffer than the factory shocks. Bumps are transmitted more and there is almost no bouncing.

Tow capacity 11208, what size camper can I tow?

The diesel 2500 has a lighter payload than the gasser (because the engine weighs more) but the diesel has such better engine and exhaust braking that the towing is easier. Also, the truck is not particularly prone to being tossed about by the trailer in a crosswind. That might not apply so much...

    Towing Help! 2023 Ram 1500 5.7L V8 eTorque, 4x4, Crew Cab, short bed, 3.21

The Airstreams also don't have 4 Seasons ratings. But they are pretty solidly built, partly because they don't have slide-outs. But that also makes them less roomy. The weight is less of an issue. Some Airstream owners complain about buffing and waxing the aluminum.

    2022 Cummins Regen Issues

My 2020 2500 had regen issues. I took it into the shop and they did 2 stationary regen cycles, which helped some. But it was always plugging up and the regenerating. It was cured by hooking up the trailer and driving it 75 on the freeway for 100 miles. Working fine again after that. Seems to be...

    Towing Help! 2023 Ram 1500 5.7L V8 eTorque, 4x4, Crew Cab, short bed, 3.21

If you are thinking of camping where it is cold, a four seasons rating is essential to keep tanks and valves from freezing. Lance trailers could be light enough for you to tow (barely) and still sleep all of the people and critters.

2023 5.7L V8 HEMI MDS VVT eTorque Engine 3.21 Rear Axle Ratio

I dunno much about gears, but I tow a travel trailer a lot. And lots of that with mountain grades and high winds and I live at 7000 feet. My 1500 eco-diesel towed ok, but hated having to accelerate on an uphill freeway ramp. Then it tossed a rod through its case at 35000 miles, and the dealer...

Neverending DPF issues - Trade in for Cummins or Hemi?

I had issues with my 2020 2500 Cummins. I live at 7000 feet and get some cold winters. The DPF filter started plugging up when I wasn't working the truck hard enough last fall. It went into limp mode and the dealer forced 2 manual regen cycles, but the DPF was always going up and down, partially...

    2020 2500 shocks

My 2020 2500 diesel with 33,000 miles just lost a shock. Should I replace all four? I tow moderate weight about half the time and travel on washboard roads occasionally. I had no particular issues with the OEM shocks until one blew out. If I should replace them, what should take their place...

    60K Diesel Service

Teh DPF filter needs a good hard run every now and again to keep it working well. A trip downtown won't get the exhaust system warm enough to bake it out. Towing a moderate load at 70 or 75 mph for about 100 miles is more what it likes to keep it working well. This is the way it was designed.
