Disappointing MPG

Check engine light while towing?
OP here... Went to the Dodge dealer in Cody, WY and explained the situation. He told me the code is stored away in the ECU and can be read. Does ECU keep record of check engine codes?
Does the ECU maintain a record of check engine codes after code has cleared? Reason I'm asking is I have an intermittent code while towing that will clear after I unhitch and drive a while. 2021 Ram 3500 Limited Dually
No disrespect intended... But if you can afford a 3500 Big Butt, mileage shouldn't be an issue. Tell folks the same when they ask what kind of mileage my 42' motor home gets. You bought it and anything you do to it will only marginally improve mpg.- Wickenburg Geezer

Looking at the 6.4. Need info.
I've towed big fivers with two different Ram 2500 and 3500. Sweet towing. Went to a 2011 Ford 150 Eco Boost with a smaller travel trailer. Adequate but not near as much "fun".
