Any new ABS Bleed options out there for 05 and older?

Last time I looked (August?), there were no simple options besides find someone with a DRB3 scan tool if you wanted to do an ABS bleed on a 05. Has anyone seen anything new? I saw an emulator, but it seemed a little wonky and expensive for what you get and I could see letting the smoke out with it.

I didn't want your dumb old bed anyway....

I've been looking for an 8 foot bed with a good solid inner box since I bought my truck. A 2004 with a good one came in at my local pull and pay. I ordered composite bedsides on Sunday, built a rack out of scrap to hold it in my bed and was all set to go get it today. I aways go on the weekends...

    instrument cluster noise

I've been noticing a sort of clock spring sound coming from the cluster while driving. It picks up as speed increases, so I assumed it was the speedo cable/speedometer but there is still a noise while sitting still. Anyone know if the tach has a mechanical drive component to it? Any warnings on...

    Module manual?

For my old BMW I have a couple Haynes manuals on the Bosch Motronic fuel injection computers. They detail the program that runs and what it does with the inputs and outputs, troubleshooting etc... Is there anything like that for our trucks that talks about the different control modules?

Good video of rocker and cab corner replacement.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0aIHYZOnJw This shows replacement of inner and outer rockers and that there is 3 layers, not just 2, which is something I didn't know. Edit: And you can't get the inner most layer so you have to make it yourself.

Do rocker panels add structure to the doors and hinges?

I came across a company that makes composite quarter panels (8ft too!), outer rockers and cab corners. Does the outer rocker skin add no structure to the door frame/hinge? Or is that all in the pillar? www.eglassindustries.com in case anyone is interested.

    Factory winch info?

I've seen the parts fiche on the Mopar site for the 05 factory winch option, but does anyone have any other info on it? Was there any kind of special facia that replaced the stock bumper facia or did it just use the standard front facia? It looks like it was all hidden. I'd like to have a winch...

Had a bit of a scare today...

Took the day off to take care of several errands. Got home from running the first one and parked on the street while I played a little car tetris and put my round town Mazda3 ****** out in front of the house. Was getting my CCW renewed and there was no way the Ram would find a spot downtown...

    Hemi tick from manifold.

Posting this here because it spans generations. I'd suggested that what's needed is a thick crushable gasket to mitigate the need for machining manifolds when your tick is from the exhaust manifold. Check out "Percy's Seal 4 Good" header gaskets. They might just do the trick.

Anyone seen this hub press tool before?

Check out this video at the 5:20 mark. This guy uses a special press tool to install this hub/bearing combo. I'm just looking for that collar he's using or something like it. I've seen separators, but have not seen anything like this designed to be used as or in a press. I'm pretty sure the...

Has anyone followed the O5 Fob programming procedure?

I was going to program a couple new key fobs. The procedure in the owner's manual seems simple enough to follow, but they do warn you that once you make a change, it erases all existing fobs. Just wondering if that includes the fob you use to enter the programming mode or not. Anyone know?

Ryobi high torque impact wrench PBLIW01B

I finally got to break in my brand new Ryobi impact driver at the junk yard this morning. I know a lot of people think Ryobi is junk but I've always had great luck with them and have a whole wall full of their 18v line. Probably an equal number of blue angels and fluorescent green (like the blue...

    Moog or Timken?

What do you guys and gals think? Moog or Timken? I need to put new wheel bearings in a non Ram. Units come as the bearing and hub assembly. I will have to press them in. Trying to decide which will be better and last longer as the total junk I put in maybe 3000 miles ago made it about a year...

    Towing center of gravity

I'm thinking about getting a car hauler. Trying to decide on the length. Where do you want your trailer's center of gravity when towing? I would think you would want it over the trailer's axles or a little forward, but I notice that a 20 foot trailer's wheels are way back there, so if I was...

After a couple beers, it's not that bad.

Had a couple Ram related disappointments today. Actually, had written several paragraphs and then thought jeez what a whiny *****. If that's all you got to complain about you got it pretty good. So I deleted it. To the quest!

    The jealousy of inanimate objects.

Have you ever had the experience where you repair some item and some other related/ semi related item or system will then fail? This happens to me all the time. I spend a lot of time on one item and some other part gets jealous and breaks. Well the concrete steps in my front yard have needed...

What's your personal fix/replace cost ratio?

So your thingamajig has failed in some way. You can fix it, probably, if you take the time, or you can pay to have it done. If you do it, you may have to buy new tools which you will have and might use again, maybe. If they do it, it's one less seldom used tool you would have taking up space. If...

I hate conflicting information (jack points)

The owner's manual says to use the axel tubes as jack points, the service manual clearly says not to use an axle tube. CAUTION: Do not lift vehicle with a floor jack positioned under: An axle tube. Anyone know about the discrepancy? I know people here have said they use the axle tubes. I...

Brake lines between master cylinder and ABS unit

I'm going to need to replace the two brake lines that run from the master cylinder to the ABS unit sometime very soon. I've ordered the lines, I'm not 100% confident that they have both lines, but that's another story. Any tips on doing the install/bleed? Was thinking I'd prime the new lines...

Do you love your truck? I love mine.

I love my truck. It's got curb appeal, but just enough wrong with it to make it a fun and rewarding project. Not that I NEED another project in my life, but I've always loved working on cars, when it wasn't a situation where I needed to get it done so I could get to work the next day. (Anyone...

    ozone generator

I finally broke down and bought my own ozone generator. This one in case anyone is interested. Ozone Generator When I bought my truck it had 10 little tree air fresheners hanging from the rear view mirror. No amount of cleaning was able to get rid of that smell. I can't stand artificial scents...

what questions should I ask the body shop when I get an estimate?

This is one of those prep for the future posts. I'm going to need at least one cab corner, inner and outer rockers on the drivers side, inner rocker on the passenger side. And I'll put a new bed on it so it will need paint and any body work the bed requires. Also the passenger fender has rust...
