You should test for fuel pressure before dropping tank.
Test for spark at the same time too.
If no fuel pressure, test for voltage before dropping tsnk.
Mine was just doing that, not the exact noise but very close.
I put in a new :
Power steering pump,
Idler & tensioner pulleys,
& new belt.
It's like new again.
Definitely do the distributor cap and rotor or you can replace whole distributor. I just did mine on a 96 that I just bought. You wouldn't want to have to do it once the keg is back on.
While it's off, replace the plenum plate with an aluminum one,
Also good time to replace oil sending unit...
