    Stuck in snow

My Ram 1500 4wd exists for only 2 reasons, get stuff from Home Depot and get me thru deep snow. I use 3PSF tires, never let me down, even in snow over 18 inches. But it helps to know how to drive in the snow.

    Best winter A/T tire

I have the Goodyear ultraterrain from discount tire and love them. Great tread, great price, and 3PSF.

Now this Ev i could like.

I was thinking about using vehicles in the middle of nowhere. All vehicles need fuel, gas or diesel or electricity. In the middle of nowhere it is hard to run a pipe or drive a fuel refill semi. Seems easier to put in a solar array and batteries to refill electric off-road vs gas. That is...

Changed trans fluid- and a cautionary tale

I only use ARP bolts. They cost more, but really don’t have to worry about broken bolts with them. I’ll pay almost anything to avoid broken bolts.

Reg vs mid vs premium Does it Matter

Where you are matters, at high elevations you can use lower octane since there is less ambient air pressure which restricts maximum compression on a naturally aspirated engine.

    Oil filter choices

The show “Engine Masters” did a whole show on oil filters, pretty interesting. The best filter is almost always “a new one”, but most brands have a good, better, best model of filter with different characteristics. So hard to say this brand is better than that without looking at a specific model.

Cut one wire to disable my truck- Which One ? (Theft Protection)

I don’t know of course, but I figure most thieves are in a hurry, make it hard and they will go away. I have an inexpensive motion sensor siren alarm hidden in the truck, open the door and it goes off. Figure most would just leave at that point since they don’t know what the alarm might be...

Help, what is this piece of metal in my rear differential?

I took it to my mechanic, he looked at it and recommended I do nothing.

Help, what is this piece of metal in my rear differential?

I plan to get the differential repaired tomorrow. Not sure what all they will want to replace, but I will post the results and cost here. This shows why it is good to pull the cover vs just vacuum out the fluid. If I had vacuumed I would not have known I had a problem.

Help, what is this piece of metal in my rear differential?

Do you think it might just be a clip used to hold a tube in place when someone filled it and it fell off in the differential?

Help, what is this piece of metal in my rear differential?

Here is another picture with a dime for scale. Everything else looks fine, and I do not see anything like it in the rebuild kits or parts catalog.

Help, what is this piece of metal in my rear differential?

I decided to replace my rear differential fluid in my 2002 ram 1500 4x4 and found these pieces of metal sitting at the bottom. What are they? I assume I need do have something repaired but I was not having a problem or hearing any noises. I was just doing it as routine maintenance at 100,000 miles

    All Terrain Tires

I like my Goodyear ultra terrain from discount tire. Good price, quiet, good looks, but still waiting for my first snow to test in bad weather.
