2023 Camping Season, what are your plans?

I came back just to visit the camping thread. Sold our fifth wheel and 2500 May 1st after almost 3 years of full time RV-ing, it was time. My intent was to buy an old Chevy truck but instead got a 67 ElCamino. 350/TH350 that I can actually work on :) Anyway, looks like some great camping going...

2023 Camping Season, what are your plans?

After 30 months and about 18,000 miles of travel my wife and I are giving up full time RV-ing. We got see so many beautiful places and met great people. Sold the ‘21 2500 to a dealership for 89% of what I paid new and the 5W probably goes next. I’ve enjoyed the camping threads more than any...

Has anyone checked the KBB value of their Ram lately?

I just sold my ‘21 2500 Tradesman to a dealership for about 90% of what I paid new. That was $3K above the upper end of what KBB listed for trade in.

    Max towing, for real...

Further evidence of dumb people: I’m selling my ‘21 2500 Hemi and there was a lady in the RV resort that was interested in it. They just bought a new 5W but don’t have a truck yet since they’re here for a year. Anyway, my truck has a 17k lb tow limit, 3060 lb payload and GCVWR of 23k lbs. She...

What’s your favorite flavor of cordless tools?

Dewalt 20V. The circular will even cut through a 4x4 with 2 passes nicely. With the vacuum I can do my truck and wife’s car on one charge. The only thing I don’t like is the ion batteries give little warning before they quit. Also love the driver and impact driver.

    RV Towing Newbie

I looked at a “half ton towable” 5W 3 years ago and the hitch weight alone was listed at 1550 lbs. Fill you propane tanks and you’re already maxing out most 1/2 tons.

    newbie to towing

Great advice on here. I can tell you that the 5.7 with 3.92’s will not only pull your rig well but when not towing can blow the doors off many a sport sedan :)

    5.7 powered VW Beetle

I did a double take the first time I saw a Chevy small block in a motorcycle. The guy told me it scared him sometimes, which I believed!

Another can I tow this. Lol

You should be fine but still get it all weighed.

    Sold the Limited

Speaking of selling trucks…is there a place on here to do that? Selling the ‘21 2500 and giving up full time Rv-ing.

    2023 2500 Bed Protection

I’ve had 5 trucks with spray in liners, including my ‘21 2500 that came with MOPAR spray in. I’ve never had a chip, ding or problem in any of them and that was with gravel, pitchforks removing mulch, hauling lumber, etc.

How Do I Go About Locating a Newer 3500, For Sale by Private Owner, with Most of the Options I Want?

I’ve had good luck in the past with autotrader. Actually getting ready to put my 2500 up for sale on there.

    Towing advice- 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn 4x4 5.7L

Not an expert on tires but I would be inclined to use a 10ply designed for towing. Use a WDH, get weighed and check your payload and axle weights. Also check to make sure your hitch is rated for the weight you’ll be pulling. I’m guessing you’ll need a class 4 or 5. More info than you asked for...

2023 Camping Season, what are your plans?

After 2 1/2 years of fulltime in our 5W we’ll be selling it and my ‘21 2500 soon. Will probably buy a small house in central Florida and maybe buy a small Class C down the road. The last 2 summers we covered about 15,000 miles and saw so much of our beautiful country. Everyone enjoy camping, be...

    Brake controller setting

I think my 2500 pulling about 10,500 lbs of 5W performs best at 7.

I am looking at a 2012 1500. Would like some input

I had a 2012 regular cab, 4.7 and 4wd. I put about 80k miles on it without a single issue. Towed my 20 foot camper well. I actually miss that truck, easy to maintain and loved the Ramboxes.

Nice truck! I had a 2012 regular cab, 4.7 and Ramboxes. Never gave me an ounce of trouble and I still miss having it.

price of gear swap 2500 6.4

Everyone has an opinion but I would not pull that much weight with a 6.4 and 3.73’s. I pull about 10.5K with a loaded 5W, with my ‘21 2500 6.4 with 4.10’s. Does a great job but I wouldn’t consider 15K pounds, definitely diesel territory. Although I’d run out of payload first my truck is rated...

side steps/running boards. Probably a dead horse, but hey.

I put MOPAR chrome and black on my 2500 CC. Wheel to wheel and very sturdy. Closer to $600 but at least you know they will fit and look good on your truck
