    Extended Warranty

I just received a check from FCA for the $1,695 I paid for the extended warranty that I didn’t have to file a claim on. Amazing, I’m surprised they don’t promote this more in their advertising. Also, I’m glad that in 7 years I didn’t have a problem. And ... I just re-upped for another 3 years...

    new choice of tires

Michelin Defender LTX, look good, super in wet weather and excellent ride. They say it’ll go 70,000 miles, hard to believe, but so far the wear pattern is excellent, so we’ll see. Long time Goodyear man said this is what he puts on his family vehicles, that’s good enough for me.

    Tire Marks on Epoxy Coating

It used to be that sulpher in the tire compound actually burned the floor’s finish. The only thing we could do was to put protective pieces of tile or linoleum under the tires and replace them occasionally. Never found anything to remove the marks once they were there. Sorry.

    Nitrogen tire fill

Air is 80% nitrogen soooo ... the other 20% might be important on aircraft or racers, but on the street ... doubtful.

    Battery Life

Update. CTEK tested the charger and said it was OK. So they said the most likely cause of the overcharge was a bad cell in the Mopar battery. I’m still nervous about leaving the charger connected for any length of time unattended. CTEK did send me a new charger at no cost. They said that was...

    Standard Air Filter Element Fit

Dealer gave me #53032404AC and is too thick to allow the housing to close. Old element had #53032494AB and it fits. The two are supposed to be interchangeable. But the "AC" number doesn't fit, am I missing something? I can just hear the "push it down" advice already, but it's just too thick. Get...

    Battery Life

Here’s the rest of the story. Bought a new Mopar battery, took it home and thought I’d give it a “top-off” from my CTEK charger since the battery showed a 12-17 date. Six hours later I saw the green light on the charger. Went to take a look and the battery was bubbling the electrolyte onto the...

    Battery Life

Battery is 5 years old but truck has 12,000 miles, so not that many starts and kept on CTEK when not used for a few days. Replace or not. It seems OK ... but I’ve always replaced at 5 years.

    Remote Programming

is there a key-fob button sequence on the Ram that will disable or enable remote start? Some other vehicles have a “valet mode” that does this. If so, it may account for some of the “mysterious” remote start behavior.

I will never buy another mopar product in ny life !!!!!!!!

You can surely get a lemon anytime but I do have a hard fast rule: never, ever buy the first year production of anything. But especially cars and trucks. This after 42 years in the industry.

    Bad Battery screw up engine/trans

We should probably change batteries at 4 yrs regardless of mileage. Since forever I have used a CTEK float charger to keep things topped off and never had a problem. I know, that’s a lot of trouble but since so many things on these “rolling computers” are so sensitive to battery condition I’d...

I will never buy another mopar product in ny life !!!!!!!!

Never talk to the monkey, go find the organ grinder. The owner is the only one who has skin in the game, the others are only spectators.

Won't starts with key. Remote start works fine. ??

Since it's a 2009, it may be time for a fresh main battery if it hasn't been replaced. Many of the issues in our "rolling computers" relate back to the main battery being at less than an optimum charge state. I use a CTEK or Battery Tender type of charger every once and a while to keep things...

    2013 Oil Leak @ Filter

From Dodge Cares: There is a STAR Case S1309000010 for an engine oil leak from oil filter adapter area. The repair is if the oil filter adapter threads are rolled or damaged, replace connector/nipple with new hardened connector/nipple and torque to 30lbs.ft (41nm). If this is an issue then...

    2013 Oil Leak @ Filter

Can't believe this still isn't solved. The adapter is the problem from what I have read here. My best guess is to ask the dealer parts department for the superseded part number and install it. I haven't done this yet since I last tightened the filter as tight as I could it hasn't leaked. My...

    2013 Oil Leak @ Filter

Well, I can't find it. I suppose I'll have to go to the dealer parts department and see if they can look it up and see if there has been a change in the part.

    2013 Oil Leak @ Filter

My dealer couldn't find any Star Case on this issue. I do know that there is an adapter that screws into the filter housing and then the filter mounts to it. I will try to get that part number and then we can see if there is a superseded part number and then we'll know if something needs to be...

    Ok to let it sit?

If it will sit for a month or more you may also want to consider inflating the tires to a bit more than normal to help avoid flat spots. Just don't exceed the maximum inflation pressure noted on the tires and remember to deflate before driving. Or consider getting some tire cradles, I don't...

    Bakflip HD install

I have a 2013 with the spray-in liner and when I asked Bak Flip they said no shims are necessary. I don't have any leaks ... well a few drops in a downpour. I do have the shims, three for each side installed on the inside of the rail in order to lever the rail into a more vertical position...

    2013 Oil Leak @ Filter

Same situation here. Leak started 600 miles after oil change. Dealer reported the filter was damaged. No sign of road impact, the diagnosis was that the filter was already damaged when installed and the tech didn't notice it. No leak since except for what I suspect was a residual drip. Be nice...
