    5th gen base audio system

You have too much high end because the factory speakers are designed to compensate for the limitation imposed by wiring the dash and front doors on the same channel. IIRC, the dash speakers are 8 ohm and front door speakers are 2 ohm, so the factory door speakers sound louder than standard...

2021 Tradesman regular cab inexpensive retro audio build (with photos)

Update: So who the heck puts a single-din unit in their vehicle nowadays? With my truck, I can't fit a deep double-din headunit without more surgery in the dash than I was willing to attempt. A deep headunit will only fit in the top half of the double-din opening (and that is only with some...

4Ω resistors on aftermarket dash speakers/headunit?

As far as the resistors, the new HU will work the same. It cannot correct a volume imbalance between speakers sharing a channel. With a four-channel amp, you have the option of running a new pair of speaker wires to either the dash or front doors, giving you two new channels. Then you can power...

Help on deciding which amp and sub I should add to my 2019 Ram Bighorn Crew Cab.

I chose an inexpensive Jensen amp from Walmart. It has no controls on it, everything is done via a phone app. I wouldn't run the dash and front door speakers on the same channels. You need to control the levels individually.

    Stereo Newb

Cool. Regarding 6.5" for the doors, I personally prefer 6x9's because they have a larger cone area for better bass. And I don't believe adapters are doing you any favors as far as sound quality. That's a situation where less may be more. Also, you might want to install foam rings like the Road...

    Stereo Newb

First hit when you Google it: https://www.ramforum.com/threads/how-to-4-ohm-resistor-upgrade-for-aftermarket-dash-speakers.125742/ Car speakers are typically 4 ohms. Ram messes that up electrically by wiring the dash speakers and front door speakers in parallel, which would typically create a...

2021 Tradesman regular cab inexpensive retro audio build (with photos)

Before this, my last install was in a new '98 Ram, so it's been awhile. Fast forward to today, I considered keeping the factory 5” head unit, but ultimately ditched it. While everybody is increasing their screen size, name brand double-din head units with HD Radio were too expensive for me, so I...

    2021 aftermarket radio installation

Another question. Crutchfield recommended the antenna adapter with the blue wire. Is the 2021 Tradesman antenna amplified, or do I not need to connect the blue wire?

    2021 aftermarket radio installation

I've seen some videos where people have cut the metal to make room for an aftermarket radio, but none of them were a 2021. Mine looks like this, so different from the videos I have seen. I ordered a single DIN HU, and it looks like I could make two cuts (where I drew the white cut lines). Anyone...

5" Uconnect/6 speaker oem. Amp recommendations?

Thanks for the recommendations. I have a 2021 regular cab and want to make my own small sealed box and add a 10" sub for under $300 total. Has anyone tried the UConnect 5 speaker outs with a cheap amp or amp/sub combo unit that has generic speaker inputs? An LOC is cheap but more crap to deal...
