1500 vs 2500 for towing travel trailer (downhill)

Most RVers I know eventually end up with larger RVs, sometimes with mutlitple upgrades. I am on my 5th and hopefully last. Yes, your vehicle properly set up is probably fine. My last TV was a 5.7 Tundra that handled up to GVWR tts at 8500 very well, even though I eventually became concerned...

Anyone tried low profile tires for towing stability

Stock LT 275/70R18. B pillar label has Front 60, Rear 65. Ran PSI all the way from 70 to 80 and still had side to side motion that was exaggerated on the road towing. Typically run about 70 psi now based on tire inflation chart when towing.

6.4L Oil Pressure - Idle vs Cruising

Wow! That's a lot of idle time. I was worried my idle time was too high at about 7-8%

Anyone tried low profile tires for towing stability

I pull a TT in the 10.5-11.0K range with my 2022 TRadesman 2500 CC 6.4L 3.73 gears, all stock (including the Firestone Transforce tires). Had all kinds of problems with the new Flagstaff TT (has Goodyear Endurance tires) behind me. Forums told me about the problems with the Ram's Transforce...

Determining Towing Capacity from Online listings

Never got that involved cuz I'm not mechanically inclined enough to think it thru. My Tundra is long gone, it was eaten by the RAM2500 I now enjoy.

Determining Towing Capacity from Online listings

I had to solve the sway problem with an expensive ProPride Hitch system (which works well). Never bothered trying to alter suspension, was afraid of warranty issues.

Determining Towing Capacity from Online listings

I agree. My 5.7L Tundra with 4.35 gears was fast out of the hole (I never could consistently take off in gravel without spinning, or throwing my wife into back seat with the instant acceleration), but I could pretty much idle my 9000lb trailer back into a leveled concrete pad site. With my...

    Cybertruck vs RAM 2500

Me thinks they are on to something here, an RV that can self propel. No longer have to worry about poor EV towing range. HEy, maybe even make the RV so powerful it can tow the EV! Problem solved! Oh wait, those are called MOTORHOMES.

    Cybertruck vs RAM 2500

Frostproof Fl has actually experienced frost! The folks I know there don't even wear jackets until they travel to northern Florida in winter.

    Cybertruck vs RAM 2500

A GAS V8 with 4.35 gearing as I recall from my prior Tundra. Just how fast would you want to tow the space shuttle? Just wondering...

    Cargo Sliding

I have the spray in bed liner as well. I bought some of the rubber wash mats from Tractor Supply, they snap together, can be cut to size, keep things in place better, and they are much more accommodating to my aging knees when I kneel in the truck bed!

Manual gear CC control 8 speed automatic

I ran tow haul mode entire trip, let the truck pick its gears, did use limiter going downhill couple of times, but it was hardly necessary. Did a good job on its own.

Manual gear CC control 8 speed automatic

Just completed a 1K mile round trip pulling my 36 ft Flagstaff TT, about 10300#, with my 2022 Tradesman 2500 HD, 6.4 Hemi, 4x2, CrewCab, Std bed, no mods. My trip was from eastern Virginia (flat) into the VA Shenandoah Valley, then south to east Tennessee on I81. Traversed over the VA and TN...

1st Travel Trailer for my Ram 2500

Rockwood/Flagstaff are hard to beat for the money. I've owned Gulfstream Amerilite, Keystone Passport, Prime Time Lacrosse, and now the Flagstaff Classic. Rockwood/Flagstaff are definitely the best made I have come across so far. Enjoy it!

Towing help for someone brand new to trucks and towing.

I agree that using the CAT scales are important in knowing where you are with your truck, TT, and hitch set up. The scales can be intimidating, but the process is very easy. Download the phone ap from the CAT website, follow directions, make sure your internet connection is active BEFORE you...

    Weight Distribution Hitch

I will never understand why people resist WDH systems so much. None are very difficult to use, you just need to match to your need. Have used a nameless WDH with first 21ft TT, Equalizer 4PT with several TTs and Blue Ox Sway Pro until I moved up to a 9500 pound TT that was moving my RAM 2500...

2023 Camping Season, what are your plans?

My wife and I are excited to start the RV season too. First trip is Pocahontas State Park near Richmond, Va early April, then Myrtle Beach 10 days in May and few days in Sept, then few days in Oct at new campground near Pigeon Forge. Hoping for few weekends in local VA state parks. We stopped...

    Trade In Value Surprise

I have personally found that Carvana seriously undervalues used vehicles. Check several places, including dealers with scant inventory.

    Farewell Ram and hello Tundra

OP, I owned 2001 and 2007 Tundras. Absolutely loved them both. No major issues arose over combined mileage of 472K miles. Only had minor, aggravating problems pop up. Yeah, had O2 sensors go bad on the 2001 at about 150k, mechanic told me to just keep driving as long as mileage kept up. The...

New Ram owner - running board opinions

I definitely recommend running boards, whatever kind you want, just get some. I drove a 2007 Tundra, stock, for 15 years, 260K miles and the only thing that wore out on the truck other than expendables was the door side driver's seat upholstery. Without the running boards, I would pivot in the...

This MPG is why I bought the 3.21

I have been able to get decent mileage with my 2022 Tradesman 2500 2WD Std Bed 6.4L Hemi with 3.73 axle. Now have 8K on the truck I took possession of March of 2022. I live in a relatively flat area, commute around 14-25 miles to work locations, generally drive 55 on our roads, get 17-18. Can...

How can i get better gas mileage

I have to agree that driving habits are critical. With my 22 6.4L 2500 Tradesman, mixed driving for me in my "rural" area is around 14-16 mpg on 87 octane. My 2007 5.7L Tundra routinely got 18+ with same driving. Of course, the 2500 has a curb weight about 1000 pounds over the Tundra...

    Tow Mirror Question

Sorry, just meant that after flipping from horizontal to vertical, I simply have to readjust mirrors to my taste. Am learning best way to adjust for easier tow. The mirror controls work fine, i.e. up orientation on switch moves mirror up whether horiz or vert.
