    Lowering

Sounds like you need a custom solution... totally outta my wheel-house. Since you have the drop spindles already, the torsion bar would be the place to go. Tough with 4x4 since the CV axle is going where the air bags might go.

    Drop shackle- one side only!

Good plan, and I think that should work just fine. A 2" change at the rear shackle should translate to about 1" at the wheel. And like I mentioned earlier, if you held onto your factory shackles you might be able to put one on the left side to drop it down to match the right :D

    Drop shackle- one side only!

No? As it stands, the frame is further from the axle on one side than the other right? So all you'd be doing is equalizing the distance between the axle and the frame on both sides, and if those are the same, the load should be the same on each spring. The 4/6 drop involves frame C-notching...

    Drop shackle- one side only!

Maybe the frame or truck bed is bent? If you've tried switching shackles, switching leafs, etc. Another thing you might consider--see if it settles out after driving around a little. Maybe while you're waiting for a different shackle to come in? I kept my stock shackles, I actually use them...

    Advantages to lowering?

This, in terms of pure personal enjoyment, has paid for the price of the lowering kit many times over +1, Can also second the "loading ease", ramping the DRZ/30 gal air compressor/groceries into the truck bed is much easier. Considering the angle, a 4-5inch drop is closer to 6" lower by the...

    Advantages to lowering?

It looks ****** bad-ass, that's it. It still doesn't turn great, but body roll is almost completely eliminated

    Belltech 2/5 drop help

Yep, leaf springs are worn out. I replaced mine shortly after installing the kit and since I went with heavy duty springs(extra leaf), the rear popped up like 3 inches so it was actually higher than the front afterward. I fix it back to level by using the factory "short" shackles instead of the...

Lowered my truck 2 years ago and just remembered

Which kit did you use? 4x4 or 2wd? I remember lowering with the Bell-Tech kit and I think you're right, but both the spring and the shock is shorter than factory so you have to start putting weight on that side before the distance is short enough to get the shock on, iirc.

6000 mile trip planned this summer pulling an open trailer. Any tips for securing the rig?

One of my best moves for my trip was just stopping in affluent suburbs. If the goal of the trip is to get across the country, is there any actual reason to stop in the big cities? One example: instead of stopping in St. Louis, I stopped in Wentzville, MO. It's a solid 40 minutes from city...

ABS light, parking brake light, no speedo, no exhaust brake

Yeah I think you're going to have to get the dealer part like me. I think either there's something they aren't doing right on the auto-parts store sensors (missing proprietary mopar nonsense) or it's 50/50 china parts quality. See...

Lowered towing success story and insights

Good question. IIRC 4th gen are on coil spring rear so it may be easier to lower in smaller increments than with leafs, because ours are a flip kit on the rear. F=kx calculations aside, I think what'll happen is the 2"F/4"R kit will put you level so you'll sag when you're loaded up, but a...

    What's your favorite muffler swap?

ah, good question. I'll see if I can record something and post it up! Sound while driving might be tricky. Maybe put my phone in a shoebox in the back of the truck bed?

What did you do to your Gen3 today?

guaranteed replies Nah, but I like to do the 5qt oil jug + filter combo deal from the auto-parts store, so I'm always stuck figuring out what to do for the last 2 quarts. I usually have some oil around from other projects I'll toss in but this time I was just a little bit short and didn't feel...

    What's your favorite muffler swap?

I had a shop cut out the muffler and just put a pipe in... too harsh, tons of drone on the freeway. Then I picked this up and loved it. - Cheap - straight through - 5 years and no evidence it's wearing out - Cuts out the harsh high tones - Classic - Chuckle all the way to the bank when people...

What did you do to your Gen3 today?

No Speedo, Check Engine, Brake, and ABS lights on -- Fix

Noticed the speedo slowly failing 6 months ago. It would kind of dance around and not read out until I reached 40-50 mph, and even then it was "iffy". Eventually, it went completely dead. Showed codes P0501, P1502. My troubleshooting over the course of the next couple months: - Check the rear...

Reg vs mid vs premium Does it Matter

I find it's most important to use ethanol-free for carbureted vehicles. Motorcycle float bowls and jets clogged in as quick as 6 months of sitting around, and when you pull the bowls off they're full of green shit

    Oil viscosity and usage

Piston rings, valve seals. Investigating where the oil is going (if it isn't ending up on the driveway) will probably cause more problems than it solves. I'm at 167k and I put 7 quarts in, get ~5 quarts out every 5,000 miles. Makes it easy to take the jug back to the auto parts store! Like...

    Rear end whine

So I thought my issue was caused by bad gears, but in retrospect it was probably that pinion nut getting loose that caused the issue. There's even been a recall (you have the 9.25, right?) and they install a pinion nut keeper. If yours hasn't been by for the recall, they might even do the work...

    Rear end whine

Oooh ooh! I know this one! Before you spend any money, check the rear differential pinion nut. If it's loose that'll cause your noise, I just tore apart my diff and swapped out gears while installing an LSD and the pinion nut was suspiciously loose and there were no metal shavings in the diff fluid.
