    All terrain tires

I’ve got the Duratrac on my old grand Cherokee. They were fairly new to the market when I got them (been years I don’t drive it much) but always reviewed as one of the better snow and rain tires. I went from the bfg mt on that, and the duratrac was certainly quieter. Have bfg at ko2 on my Ram...

    Starter replacement- wow

I think I wrote this more because if one does a youtube search for something like ram 1500 starter replacement, you will see half the videos there talking about removing a bracket. I ran across a couple short ones from guys who had 2wd trucks, and gotta say it isn't much harder to get this done...

    Starter replacement- wow

I’ve had my 2009 5.7 for about 1.5years at this point. Always starts but the starter has been very very slow to crank, especially when heat soaked. I used to do a remote start when leaving the truck for a few minutes to keep the ac going, but it cranks so slow hot I stopped doing that about a...

Belt squeak - found and fixed

Some time back maybe about 6 months ago, I replaced the belt, tensioner, and idle pully on my 2009 5.7 because I was seeing lots of belt noise. Looking at the belt, it looked like it could have been original to the truck, and previous owners records showed no replacement, so I figured almost...

Radiator coolant - how to tell?

Yeah, I kinda thought about that. On the 2009 vic I know the data is a little different than some newer models. There is a digital slider, and a number. And there is a line across the slider. As it touches that line, it reads 197. So it is either a mark at 196 or 197, or the slider doesn’t match...

Radiator coolant - how to tell?

A little follow up on this if it helps anyone in the future. I swapped idler pulley and no change in sound. That was the quickest. Next break in rain was today, so I swapped the belt and the tensioner. Continental brand tension seems exactly the same as the oem one minus the pentastar logo. Some...

Radiator coolant - how to tell?

I tried the account on Mopar.com it still won’t link to my truck, but has my old Dakota and Jeep listed just fine. Even called their help and they said “it could take a bit”.

Radiator coolant - how to tell?

Another thing I thought was odd is upper hose was hot to the touch but radiator cap was not. I suppose it could be that after the few stops I made the cool distilled water I added to the overflow had been sucked into the system and cooled the cap area a bit ‍♂️

Radiator coolant - how to tell?

Yeah I read it all. And the chemical data in the links. Now I should have looked in the radiator a bit more carefully. Now that it is daylight and no evening it is in fact more of a red color. I think. Really hard to tell going on the very little residual that was in the overflow tank. I think...

Radiator coolant - how to tell?

That is my issue I guess. Just the unknown. I gotta be happy I guess that the previous owner I think was honest and told me the radiator had been changed. I’m still waiting to hear from him where the work was done. He said most of his work was done at one of the two dealerships in town. But oil...

Radiator coolant - how to tell?

Thanks for the replies so far. Sucks there isn’t an easy way to tell, and I too hope I get a reply. Doesn’t get too cold here, so I may just put a little distilled water in the overflow for now so there is something. The mix won’t be that far off and better than nearly nothing in there I guess...

Radiator coolant - how to tell?

2009 1500 5.7. So looking ahead of time the other day to do an oil change and swap the belt since it is starting a little squeaky sound. Had the truck for about 8 months now. Saw the upper radiator hose was slightly collapsed (engine cold). Check the overflow and nearly nothing in there. I...

Fuel pump, or relay (TIPM) problem, how to tell?

Ended up being the pump. No start. No pump noise. Manually spray in fuel and runs. Confirmed no pump noise. Hit tank works. Pull pump. Confirm power as needed back there. Replace pump. Oem pump. Quality shop doesn’t mess around always like dealing with them because they generally suggest exactly...

Fuel pump, or relay (TIPM) problem, how to tell?

Thanks. Yes. That is the process they are going to go into. Just as I would if I were to do it at home. This shop rebuilt the engine on my wife’s car a few years back. Owner said exactly what you said, and what I would do as well. Check for pressure. Check for power. I just had read a bit...

Fuel pump, or relay (TIPM) problem, how to tell?

Ok a little more searching this morning as to why those bypass kits all start listing at 2011. It appears the 2009-2010 (lucky me I have a 2009) arranged the fuse power to before the relay rather than fuse after. What that means is that if it is the relay that is a problem the fuse bypass will...

Fuel pump, or relay (TIPM) problem, how to tell?

Thanks. The shop it is at is busy enough they may not even look at it today. And I’ve Amazon ordered one of those bypass cables. They all lost 2011-13 and trying to figure out if that is because it may not fit into my 2009 fuse box because of possible fuse arrangements or what. I should have...

Fuel pump, or relay (TIPM) problem, how to tell?

Also, I have continued to search, but it appears mopar part CBWPR091AA which is the bypass relay kit from the factory is no longer available. It was listed for other non-RAM models, but same TIPM, so would have worked. Instructions for it here based off a durango and grand Cherokee...

Fuel pump, or relay (TIPM) problem, how to tell?

2009 1500 5.7. Ok, so went to start leaving a store and cranks great, a little stutter, but doesn't stay running. Whatever it is that tells the starter to keep cranking until it starts sometimes keeps cranking, and sometimes stops, and it stutters for a few seconds at 500 rpm or so and then...

Center jump seat from 2013+ in 2009?

Thanks all for the comments so far. There is not one locally at a junkyard which is why I ask. There is an lkq in town but they don’t have one. Many others do, and it runs from just over $100 up to about $200 depending on age and a lot of those cars were total loss so maybe open to the...

Center jump seat from 2013+ in 2009?

Curious then why even auto wreckers list the 13-18 as different? Find the same year group on eBay. I mean I get it would take a bit of work to get the wiring in the seat hooked up in my older truck. So they should be listing as 2009-2018 then? I know it looks the same to me just don’t want to...

Center jump seat from 2013+ in 2009?

So I’ve searched around a good bit. Talked with a few sellers. But have yet to get a firm will it fit. Have the current older style center front seat. Like the cup holders built into the newer one and don’t want to change to a console center. So the question is will the newer style bolt...

    Different brake bulbs?

So, I was just looking around at random parts and noticed a listing for the brake light bulbs. Listed as 3157 for the 2 headlight option, and 3057 for the 4 light option. I never would think that the tail light sections were different, but perhaps I missed something. I currently have the 2...

    AlphaOBD options 2009 Ram 1500

Ok so those functions I mentioned above should work fine? Seems to be a lack of documentation so sorry to ask the questions. I certainly see there are more features available on newer models as there are plenty of people that have shown that on utube video and such. Just can’t find anyone that...

    AlphaOBD options 2009 Ram 1500

I’ve watched in here for a while and finally joined just recently to post. Ok so I am on the fence on the purchase of alpha. After looking here and many other online forums there is limited, as in like no reference to my model year and what features AlphaOBD supports. I’ve run it in demo to see...
